Tired LA team that had just played an OT nail-biter the night before, well rested and pumped up Canucks. That's probably the main story.

Glad to see some finally go in. Given the difference in fatigue to LA, the Canucks probably played worse tonight than in Edmonton, but sometimes you get the bounces, and the game does devolve when one team is way ahead.

10 goals in 3 games... Too bad they weren't split more evenly.

Also, glad to see that Green rested the top line once we were well up in this one. We will need Pettersson and Boeser to be fresher down the stretch, and there is no need to try to pad stats.

Absolutely that's the main story yet we gave up 39 shots!!?? The key diff was Marky who was excellent and Quick who was wretched. Boeser still looks bad and I still don't get why people are so excited about Gaudette; he looks very ordinary to me. All our new guys looked great to me. I have no way of looking this up but I would be curious if some stats monkey could find me the winning % of a team that is a)playing the 2nd of back to back road games b) in a different time zone and c) who won the night before. I'm betting it is really low. So let's not plan the parade just yet but we should be happy for Hughes, Miller, Marky and Sutter. And Horvat. Oh yeah, and Green...

Seems he's reaching with his body more when he's playing, instead of using his feet and getting on the guy. Typically a reflection of the players skating. Either from being a poor skater, injury or conditioning. You can guess which one. I personally think his skating has taken a hit from injuries. So he can still defend when the play is close to him
So....

Ankle... maybe?

Poor Chris.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Suiting up in preseason
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) will play in Monday's preseason game versus the Flames.
Tanev has struggled with injuries lately, as he hasn't played in more than 55 games in any of the last three seasons. The 29-year-old blueliner will start this season healthy, but he lacks fantasy aptitude as he has never surpassed 20 points in a season. Tanev will likely land on the third pairing this year.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Skating with team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) participated in Saturday's practice.
Tanev was in a walking boot at the end of the 2018-19 season, but now he's back on the ice and looks ready for the regular season. He'll first look to suit up for Monday's preseason game versus the Flames. The 29-year-old has struggled with injuries often in his career, and he hasn't played more than 55 games in any of the last three seasons. As long as he's healthy, however, Tanev will likely play a defensive-minded role on the blue line.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Still stuck in walking boot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev will be in a walking boot for another 10 days and hopes to be fully healthy by May.
Tanev has struggled with injuries in his career, having never appeared in more than 70 games in a season. He finished 2018-19 with 12 points in 55 contests, his highest point total since 2015-16. He was asked to go to the World Championship, but given his injury, chances are he won't participate. He'll need the summer to make a full recovery and turn his attention toward training camp.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Done for season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) isn't expected to be cleared medically until a few days prior to the beginning of the 2019 IIHF World Championship, which means he won't be available for Saturday's season finale against St. Louis, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.
Tanev will finish the campaign having totaled just two goals and 12 points in 55 games. The 29-year-old Canadian is still unsure if he'll represent his country in the IIHF World Championship, but he'll be back to 100 percent well ahead of next season's training camp either way.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Won't play Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) will remain out of the lineup versus Nashville on Thursday, Ben Kuzma of The Vancouver Province reports.
Tanev has played just twice in the Canucks' last 22 games due to injuries, and at this point, should probably be considered doubtful at best versus St. Louis on Saturday. The blueliner reached the 10-point mark for the sixth consecutive season, but is unlikely to get back to being the 20-point producer he was in 2014-15.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Out again Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) is projected to remain sidelined for Saturday's contest against the Stars, Kevin Woodley of NHL.com reports.
Tanev has drawn into just two games since Feb. 13 and there is no sign that his status will change anytime soon. With only three games remaining on the schedule, there's a decent chance he's played his last game of the campaign. If that's the case, he finishes with just 12 points -- two goals and 10 assists -- to go along with 122 blocked shots and 29 hits over 55 games.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Still sidelined
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) isn't in the projected lineup for Thursday's matchup with LA, NHL.com's Kevin Woodley reports.
Tanev is still recovering from the fractured ankle he suffered March 15 against the Devils, and with just five games remaining on the schedule, the Canucks may opt to simply shut him down for the remainder of the campaign. If that ends up being the case, the 29-year-old blueliner will finish the campaign having notched two goals and 12 points while posting a plus-3 rating in 55 appearances.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Not ready to return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) is listed as an injured scratch for Tuesday's matchup with the Ducks, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 reports.
Tanev hasn't seen game ice since March 15, so he continues to sit on a modest 12 points through 55 games. He'll hope to get a chance to add to those totals when the Canucks play host to the Kings on Thursday.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Sidelined versus Blue Jackets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) will miss Sunday's game against Columbus.
Tanev has played just twice since Feb. 13 and will sit once again Sunday, still slowed by an ankle injury. In 55 games this season, the defenseman has registered 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) and a plus-3 rating.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Sidelined again Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) remains unavailable for Wednesday's game against the Senators, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports.
Tanev will miss his third consecutive game due to an ankle injury. His 12 points through 55 contests don't earn him any fantasy league merits, but he does own a plus-3 ratio, while 122 blocked shots could make him a worthwhile option in some. His next chance to return comes Saturday versus the Flames, though no official timeline has surfaced.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Out Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Canucks' Chris Tanev: No-go Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) won't be in action against the Stars on Sunday, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports.
Tanev was injured in Friday's game against the Devils doing what he does best -- blocking shots. Luke Schenn reportedly will sub in for Tanev in the interdivisional affair.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Sustains apparent ankle injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Tanev (ankle) will not return to Friday's game against the Devils, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.
Tanev sustained the injury upon taking a Kyle Palmieri shot off his ankle, per Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet. The fearless defenseman was only on the ice for 3:07 in the first period; he tried to tough it out but ultimately left for good after a TV timeout. Expect the team to provide an update on Tanev ahead of Sunday's road game against the Stars.

Turned into a laughter but still a lot of loose play out of the Canucks and the team had to rely on some good goaltending and some breaks to prevent the game from turning into total shoot out. Quick really stunk which helped. Nice to see PP was good tonight

Good

Markstrom - LA had some point blank chances off turnovers and Markstrom had to be excellent

Hughes - real upper level talent offensively and getting by on defense. Has much harder shot than last year and if he can continue to improve he is going to be deadly on the PP

Sutter - not just the goals but very good on the PK.

Pearson - another effective game along the boards Has been as reliable as anyone at forward this season

Miller - quiet 4 points and again showed he knows what to do with the puck. Still think he is finding his way on a new team but much better in this one.

Edler - backed in too much on the one goal but was again their best all round defenseman.

Pettersson - played a bigger role in this game. Some very good passes and good reads.

Not so Good

Horvat - got better in the third but sluggish out of the gate and made some very poor passes leading to turnovers. Maybe nervous but hasn't, as yet, risen to the play off last season

Stecher - struggled around his net. Not working that well with Benn. Seems to me that Stecher needs to play himself into games. Last years injuries afforded him that chance and he developed nicely. Getting spotted like he is, maybe not is role he may not be suited for. Got tied up in his end quite a bit and got walked on couple of occasions. Was bailed out by Markstrom.

Others

Gaudette - strength lies in his ability to rush the puck and get to the net. Still he must develop a more all round game and improve in the d-zone.

Virtanen - better in this game but still lost at times.

Levio - not a top 6 player. Little like Gaudette and Virtanen in that he seems to only produce off the rush. Is being given chances on the PP but lacks the passing skill and execution to complete plays.

Boeser - must improve his mobility. Moved the puck better on the PP but skating lacks much jump.

Myers - lot more good than bad in this one but still showing a tendency to rush into traffic and make blind passes that get picked off.

Demko needs to get in soon but if the team doesn't tighten up around him, he could be in for rough time.

Hughes only played 16:25 tonight, why not crank up his ice time and let him do his thing when you have such a big lead?

One thing that stood out to me was how sluggish Ferland's skating looked, not what you want to see out of a guy you've committed yourself to 4 years of for good money.

Players coming from NCAA hockey sometimes wear down in the late season due to the grind of their first long pro season. They don’t play nearly as many games as Canadian juniors so it is new to them.

I think it was the right thing to do not to bump up Hughes’ minutes after the game was already won. There was nothing to be gained and possibly some of his late season effectiveness to be lost by playing him more.

I approve of the Canucks’ use of Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin ‘Bout Love” as the new goal song. f*** yeah.

Hughes is so god damn smooth. That’s my biggest takeaway from today. Fun game to watch.

Miller and Pearson are both great pickups. Miller hounds the puck really well, and Pearson has a knack for getting into scoring positions.

Hughes is very impressive, the whole defense seemingly has taken on more confidence getting into the play after seeing how he can direct play out there.

Markstrom is going to have to be big while the team figures out how to be more structured without the puck. These are still early stages.

The Benn-Stecher pairing isn't clicking, but perhaps they just need more time to read each other.

Sutter had a much better game on the wing. Keep him there.

Why are they celebrating their 50th anniversary 9 years after their 40th?
That was the 40 season celebration... this is the 50 year celebration...

We missed a yr with a lockout.. I know.. kinda silly not to be consistent... but they needed the PR and marketing push asap.

Jake was playing the Roussel role tonight with his physicality and ruffling of feathers. If he can bring that type of game consistently while being defensively responsible and scoring 10-15 goals per year, I’ll take it.
Gonna be an epic decision once Roussel returns as to who get gets moved.

I've been assuming it will be the Gaudette... but........
