For the love of all that's good and righteous, we hope not. To be fair to Barker, he wasn't quite as pillow-chewingly bad as he was the first couple of games, but he's still a hell of a long way from good.

He gets turned inside out at least once a game. Bad skater, terrible speed, non-existent pivoting ability. He's like a pylon with a basic computer chip. He shouldn't be in the NHL at all; I'd honestly rather have MAG.

And please guys, just win.

It's so infuriating watching him play, I have seen better gap control and defensive positioning in rec leagues.

But hey, at least he can walk the blue line and get those wrist shots through...

Scary, isn't it? A defenseman who's worse at defense than Gragnani.

Mind you, Gragnani was a sad case. He just missed his time. He was born in the wrong century, that's all. If he'd been born in the 1300's or 1400's, he'd have been just the guy to strike out into the vast, unexplored reaches of the world, discover places, and then name them after himself. He's just got that kind of spirit. He's the kind of guy who says: "What's over there? Way, way over there?" and then goes to find out. Where those around him say: "Why?" or "Seriously, why?" or even "What the hell is wrong with you? WHY?!", he says: "Why not?" Danger? Peril? Carefully designed hockey special teams set plays? Mere speed bumps on the road of life to intrepid souls such as his. He'd drop whatever he was doing, sail halfway around the world, discover Hawaii, and name it Gragnaniland. Why? Just because. Sure, his father would say: "Idiot boy, I sent you to the barn for eggs and you return six months later with a sack of macadamia nuts. WTF?!" But to the rest of the world, he'd have nailed his name in the pages of history as the man who discovered Gragnaniland.

Barker on the other hand is nowhere near as entertaining. We really need to just bite the bullet and make him a PP specialist. Just hope like hell he can somehow scramble to the bench if the play goes back the other way. It's like the red line has some secret switch that deactivates his brain.

I say Barker has played well for a guy who hasnt played in a long time and has been kicked around so much. He cant have much confidence right now. He must be as disappointed as anyone is by now.

His speed is crap, and players beat him to the outside, he needs to play tighter to the forwards so they cannot draw up enough speed to blow by him.

Other than that he has been surprisingly good.

I've seen this Gragnani bit before. Really hope you're quoting yourself and not ripping someone off! Am too lazy to check though.

All me. *insert smug AV smirk here*

Busted it out before in the trade section but hadn't posted it here. Maybe I'll retire it now if it's recognizable.

I first wrote a different variation on the Canes' board when I heard he signed there. That was a much rougher, spontaneous version; the above's the refined copy.

*edit* In the original post on the Canes' board I said Gragnani looked like a bulldog who chased one too many parked cars when he's got his helmet off. That should predate any other appearances just in case anyone actually does want to check.

At least we don't have to watch MAG getting embarrassed - he's already missed his check or got caught pinching too deep when the play goes the other way. With Barker though, you have the faint hope he will stand up to the puck carrier, or maybe have his stick on the carrying path, or hell, keep up with the opponent.

But nope. The carrier just blows by him. Or does the drag to at least make it look like it took some skill to beat him. The meanest opponents banks the puck off the boards and retrieves it behind Barker, who is still trying to figure out why he can no longer see the puck despite trying to so hard to turn around.

Do you have a bibliography I can review?

I'm hoping this game is marginally more exciting than watching seniors lawn bowl, but I'm not holding my breath...

Expecting a loss and a boring game, quite frankly.

Despite the fact that we haven't been playing nearly as poorly as our record would appear, it's at times like these that teams often get frustrated and DO start playing as bad as the record would appear.

You need to amend that, Macadamia nuts are from Australia, I'm guessing Gragnani went by on the way home, named it Gragnania. Tamed a Kangaroo, named it after Queen Isabella, trained it to carry around his wine and Macadamia nut snacks in her pouch (known as a Gragnani's butler)

Damn it, now I wish he was around then, I want a snack kangaroo.

Missing my 3rd game in a row... On vacay.

Seems like we'll be getting Hackett in net so they'll probably get a shutout.

Prediction 6-1 Vancouver. Booth and Kassian a pair each, Raymond + Daniel. Koivu with the Wild goal.

Im starting to dislike management more and more.

yo, those are legal claims by a plaintiff about an issue nobody knows anything about. the dude could literally be a kleptomaniac psychopath that was intentionally trying to scuttle the team because he was secretly double-paid by the Bruins and you would have no way of knowing this. you should probably wait until at least they put out any defence

Weaseled the guy. LOL.

Ask anybody in the construction business about the Aquilinis, if you are interested.

for what gain? to sabotage some european soccer club?

Anyone see this already? Canucks are getting sued by a sports pyschologist. Sounds like some greasy shenanigans behind the scenes...

To be fair, the issue with the work permit could be true (based on what I know from personal experience it sounds plausible) and there would be not much they can do about it. None of us know enough about the situation to read much into it.

(Then again, this sounds like it was all handled by Aquilini so...)
