I have to agree with the Heshmatpour post. The kid was not a standout this yr.
Does anyone know if he is Canadian or American and why was he not on any
U-17 or U-18 rosters??? A lot of talk over the yrs. about his age as well. I
doubt he is an 87 born player :amazed:

Where is Laakso? Am I even supposed to take this list seriously?

I don't think that's a fair comment. I'm not sold on Laakso yet. I'd have him in a preliminary 1st round but there are a lot of holes in his game- I like Korhonen better at this point. Redline doesn't even have him in their top 50- don't know if that's an oversight or what...

I think the issue's two-fold:

1) He's not good enough to make any of Canada's teams.

2) He's burned enough bridges with USA Hockey that he's not welcome anymore.

The U.S. has enough depth at this point to not have to beg and plead with every above average player to join it's national teams, at least at the junior level.

No Joensuu on that list? He surely belongs here though he has a late birthday (at least Kessel and Anik... you now are also lateborns)

I don't even know what Redline is, but all the scout lists I've seen have placed him in the top10 (mostly at places 5-8). I haven't seen any holes in his game either.

Only negative thing with him at the moment is his injury that still hasn't healed. Then again, he played with the injured leg in the U18 WJCs and was the top scoring defenseman there so it shouldn't slow him down too much. He did only weight training during the summer because of the injury, though, so it might have some effect.

His doctor apparently told him not to skate until it's healed completely. Might take a few more months. He's at the U20 training camp at the moment, so we'll know more after that...

PS. Korhonen isn't U18 anymore.
