I'm pleased to have him back. Hopefully he will bring what Abdelkader was supposed to bring with an appropriate AAV.

So 2 x $750,000 one way for Givani Smith, Yzerman got a pretty good deal out of it. I thought 2 x $850,000 or 2 x $900,000 at the very least. Curious with that deal why it took so long.
One way vs two way probably, and also the extra year. Getting $750k guaranteed is more important to a kid like Smith than the potential to make an extra $100k. He'll make the roster this season, but he's not a lock next season.

What Smith has already earned:

Did sign ELC at October 2016.

2016-2017, $92 500 signing bonus (ELC slide, still at OHL)
2017-2018, $92 500 signing bonus (ELC slide, still at OHL)
2018-2019, $160 000 = 92 500 signing bonus + 67 500 base salary (ELC 1st year, at AHL)
2019-2020, $240 000 = 52/186 NHL days in NHL = 192k + 134/186 NHL days in AHL = 48k
2020-2021, $412 000 = 63/116 NHL days in NHL = 380k + 53/116 days in AHL = 32k

92.5k (18-year old)
92.5k
160k
240k
412k
750k
750k (24-year old)

That will be his salary progression from 2016 to 2023.

I'd like that kind of job too. :) Can take the minimum, won't whine.

Bad news for the Florida Panthers. Get your faces ready for more punches.

Thinking more Dallas this year after that Benn crosscheck on Larin to end the season.

Get Witkowski in hte line up too. Read an article that sounds like they plan on using him a bit, so might as well used him against the Stars
