Skating can be improved markedly with proper coaching and lots of hard work/hours. So many examples, two recent ones - Draisaitl and Horvat.

I do hope Botterill hires a full time skating coach - Arizona hired Dawn Braid who used to work for the Sabres part-time.

Pay Malloy was the Sabres skating coach.

Given Botts talking about things like the Sabres' sport science department, I'm sure player development coaches (skating and skill work like shooting and faceoffs) will certainly be an area that he will make sure that Pegulabucks are well spent on.

I'd rather they use that on a legit AHL vet who can provide scoring stability than try to work on someone who's biggest issue seems to be what the new GM covets -- speed.

Might not be a bad idea for the Sabres to revisit signing Estephan.
He tore it up with the Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL) last season and a shot stint with the Toronto Marlies.
