6.4m AAV

Makes him the highest paid Anaheim goaltender in history (Giguere was around 6.1m AAV iirc)

Being that he's young the term doesn't bother me just hope he can stay healthy.

I love it, granted I’m a big Gibson fan. But if he continues to put up numbers like last year, then this contract looks pretty dang good.

Gibson - 2027

Fowler - 2025
Lindholm - 2022
Manson - 2022
Montour - 2020 (RFA)

Rakell - 2022
Henrique - 2024
Kase - ??

The core is locked down for a long time now - just need another young impact forward or two. But also shows that 2022 is going to be an absolutely brutal year for Anaheim when it comes to contracts.

By 2022, Kesler, Perry, and Getzlaf's big deals are over, which will go a long way.

Very risky with his injury concern. If he can stay healthy it’s going to be a steal. .923 sv% over his first 150ish games...I don’t think there are many goalies in the history of the NHL that can boast that.

Please stay healthy... please stay healthy... please stay healthy.

The term surprised me a little, I didn't expect a full term deal, but it could end up being a steal over the long run. The AAV is about what was expected, but as usual, I had hoped for a bit less (though there wasn't really a good reason for it to be less). I've watched decent teams struggle for years to solve their 1G problem, I'm glad to not be one of those teams for the next better part of a decade.

Gibson has a modified NTC that kicks in 2021 (10 team no trade list). So Anaheim certainly has flexibility down the line if they decide to change the direction of the team.

Great deal! Hilarious seeing some of the people on the trade board saying it's bad. If Gibson was on a eastern conference team or a Canadian team he would get so much more respect.

The term does scare me considering the health issues he's had, but if he can manage that then he's worth every penny.

They seemed to figure something out last year. He had to come out of about 5-6 games but I don’t think he ever missed more than a week, and he ended up top 10 in the league in games and minutes. His workload was basically the same as Rinne, who is one of the more durable goalies in the league.

like others have already mentioned, if he can stay healthy this is an absolute steal of a contract
