Hello, all. I’ve lurked here for a while but wanted to get in on the game day threads, etc. I like to vent/meltdown when necessary.
I became a Canes fan when they moved to Raleigh. I’m a Raleigh native and one day on a whim, me and some buddies decided to go to a game. We were hooked. Anyway, time lapse forward 20 years and now I have kids and luckily my son loves watching the games. Especially during the covid shutdown, it’s been good to have Canes games to look forward to.
LOL, me too. Good to see you here.I went to my message board and my message board was gone

... or, go out to the sunshine. Rip yourself completely out of this sorry scene. Take on a hiking hobby, or jeeps or something. Go fight people at the Bojangles parking lot. You're like halfway out, don't let us pull you back in.I went to my message board and my message board was gone

But please, do not break the wind.

Hey OB, welcome aboard. You'll recognize several fellow emigres from the usernames, a couple from the avatar, and I suspect there may be a couple long time HF Canes members who may have also posted on the now dead official Canes board.
Too bad the Canes just shut down their board without notice instead of giving us the opportunity to discuss other options for after they shut down the board. Several previous Canes board members have trickled in here, but I suspect there's more that would like to join but haven't found HF Boards yet.
I know I haven't looked back.
Just be aware. The board is full of wiseasses, smart alecks and folks generally full of shit. These are our people.I went to my message board and my message board was gone

Good to see another refugee here! Welcome! It's time to introduce myself.
Another exile from the Canes official message board.
Hockey:
Full STH since the Canes move to Raleigh. (and all ICECAPS seasons before that).
Before that, Clarkson University Golden Knights hockey. (Go Erik Cole). That's the meaning of the avatar.
Before that, the Miracle on Ice caught my attention and made me a die hard. Hockey is the greatest spectator sport.
Been to over 1000 games in person.
Known for 2 things on the old message board:
1. A written "theatre of the mind skit" similar to Bob and Doug McKenzie I called "Canes Cold Ones with Hag and The Big Guy". I might bring this back at some point.
2. Hagmetrics, which was a very simple way to calculate where we (Canes) are at when the number of games played are unbalanced. I do not need to bring this back since they now displaying point percentage on the standings, which is better. So the new instructions are, sort by the "P%" column when you look at the standings.
I don't take myself seriously, nor mine or anyone's opinions on hockey. It's not that important.
That being said, I live and die by this team, my Clarkson team, and others in other sports. If you don't sell out your emotions to something, what is the point.
Being there when we won the Cup was surreal. I had lived in the area 5 years when my friend told me we were getting a hockey team (Icecaps) and I thought he was pulling my leg (Yeah right, hockey in ACC Basketball Mecca? It'll never happen). 15 years later we were hoisting the Stanley Cup. I still can't believe it.
We could do it again.

Hey, hag. I noticed another member here who is either from Potsdam or has family there. I used to travel through Potsdam going from Syracuse to college in Plattsburgh (depending on the route chosen). So there's at least a couple of us used to the cold, north winters.
