What do ya'll think about ya'lls U20 team? As good as last years or no?

"As good as last year's"? That would mean it was good last year but it really wasn't. Lol

I'm gonna say it might be even worse, with Wiederer, Loibl, A. Eder, Kammerer gone.

I would agree with this.

Of course guys like Napravnik, Mayenschein, Schütz, Gläßl, T.Eder (still an underager) or Körner are all a year older and hopefully better, and there are some promising guys like Adam, Jahnke, Walther, Soramies and Kiefersauer, born in 98, who could join the team. Still, I think it's more likely that they are even worse than last year. Hopefully some of the other teams will also be weaker this year.
I have higher hopes for the following years. If those kids that are looking promising right now continue to develop.

Hmmm...I can only speak for Austria but we lose two really good forwards in Huber and Zwerger, but we bring back an injured Kromp, problem is 98' is dead-on-arrival, one very promising defender and that's basically it. The rematch should be exciting. I think it's probably down to those 2 teams though. I don't see one of the other team winning.

They did better against Slovakia (losing 3-4 in the shootout). That's not surprising since Slovakia appears to be the 2nd worst team in the tournament. I think Switzerland is a a bit better.
I am really worried about the game against the US though. It will be the 4th game in as many days for the German team and the US team should be the strongest in the tournament and I would not be shocked if they score 10-15 goals on us.

For last night, I guess the 5 minute major penalty for slashing against Bokk late in the 3rd period really hurt, though they actually managed to kill that off, after giving up 2 goals on 3 minor penalties earlier in the game.

Here's the official boxscore:

Goal and assist for Bokk, no points for Valenti.

I wonder how much attention this actually gets. I bet lots of scouts are just stat watching, because they're all probably at Hlinka.

Probably, though I wouldn't be surprised if some scouts for Colleges or teams from USHL, NAHL and to a lesser degree CHL are watching this tournament looking in particular for any standouts from the 4 European teams.

Definitely US bantam scouts looking for players for the USHL and CHL import drafts.

Since the upcoming tournament for the U18 does not involve other national teams, and the U18 will be missing all the Mannheim players who will play for their club team, I am not sure if I should include the statistics for those games in the OP.
If anybody has an opinion on this please let me know.

It gives the others a chance to show themselves -- I would include it. But since it's your project, it's obviously entirely up to you. I appreciate the work you do!

I watched the game between Jungadler Mannheim and HC Karlovy Vary. Mannheim lost 1-2 and their goal was scored by Valenti off a turnover.

These were the forward lines for Mannheim:
Preto - Soramies - Valenti
Eckl - Fischer - Stachowiak
Lutz - Gläser - Wagner
Bauhof - Schulz - Benzler

I am not entirely sure about the defensive pairings but I think it was something like this:
Nijenhuis - Ewald
Möller - Kullmann
Mass - Kremer
Dziambor

For me Stachowiak was the most impressive player for Mannheim. He was so active and was really driving the play for his line. Valenti, Fischer, Gläser and Nijenhuis were pretty good too.

I watched part of this game online today and have to say I still really like Valenti.

It wasn't an official international game, but it's impressive that they invited Dominik Bokk to play for the U20 already.

The U16 team is currently playing a series of 3 games against Finland.
They lost the first two, but avoided being blown out.

Not sure how good the roster for Finland is, though.

Good to see Saakyan playing for Germany.

I don't see any players from Mannheim in the U17 and U18 rosters, maybe they are still in the US where they played a tournament, or they just returned and maybe get a little rest or something.

Agree on Saakyan. I am very curious about him. His numbers the last few years have been quite intriguing.
