I like the terms. Cap friendly at an NHL level but an AHL salary that is high and will make teams think twice about making a waiver claim on him if we ever need to send him down in the future.

he could have asked more like 1 way the first year(like clendening) but I guess he likes it here. not many people get 1m total contract in the ahl

Or multiple years of NHL experience, work ethic and leadership qualities the organization severely lacks.
Seriously. We bitch and moan about letting guys like Manny, Letestu, Mackenzie and so on walk when we sorely could have used their particular brand of leadership so I’m going cheer us re-signing a guy that brings what Gerbs does.

It's a perfect organizational depth signing. He makes $500k in the minors and $750k for NHL time. It's the going rate for seasoned depth players and has no negative cap implications.

It's the highest ahl only salary but it's not that much really. compared to player that get 1 way deal and play in the ahl

Clendening got 575(1 year 2way 1year 1 way)/700k on his deal.
Dalpe 450/750K
Dano 350/800k

it's really nothing anyone should worry about. true that there's no negative here
