Cont. from the previous thread the good thing about Koharski is he doesn't put up with yappers. And Pens have a ton of them.

Casto and Breen on the ice for 4 goals. Hopefully one of them is riding the bench with McAvoy playing for Providence starting next game.

EDIT: Mark Divver just tweeted that McAvoy is not eligible to play for Providence in the playoffs. Not sure why but that sucks. I wonder if he gets an invite to the World Championships instead.

I watch 2 minutes of the game between after the bruins 2nd period just in time to see the PBruins get the same treatment of the Bruins by the refs, they didn't call a so obvious icing its not even funny for a goal on the same play to make it 4-3 WB. :shakehead

McAvoy, Kuraly, and Acciari should be some good adds to the Providence roster.

McAvoy can't be sent down, Kuraly and Acciari may or may not get sent down per Mark Divver tweet.

    That's unfortunate about McAvoy

The game sheet suggest a wild offencive game. The loss for the B's is especially tough as the funky best of 5 playoff series switches to WBS for the final three games. It is a tall order for the B's now needing to take two of the three to move on. The positive take away is how the top team in the regular season were severly tested by Providence in the first two. Should hear today what if any reinforcements may be added to the roster following the Bruins exit from the NHL playoffs.

I hope they send Kuraly down

Acciari just came back from injury, I wouldn't mind it if they just had him recover. But if he's 100% then why not? They would certainly help providence in a big way

They were both key cogs for Providence in the regular season if I'm not mistaken so getting them back would probably be a huge boost.

Can't quite figure out why McAvoy isn't eligible when other Juniors and College kids are. Back in the days of clear day rosters, players had to be on the roster by that date to be eligible for the playoffs, but that isn't a thing anymore.

Basically the minute McAvoy signed his ELC, it made him a pro and negated the amateur tryout he signed. I understand the intent of the rule, but in the case of pure rookies like McAvoy and JFK it's dumb, especially when one of them was on the team before the playoffs and would have remained there had Boston not suffered so many injuries.

The officiating was awful yesterday and Koharski was not the worst offender. Furman South has it out for Providence ever since that Bridgeport game three months ago when he gave Grant a postgame misconduct for a legitimate beef (the league rescinded it after). The guy had a clear penalty occur right in front of him by noted thug Kostsuckopus and he ignored it, fortunately Koharski called it from the other end. The linesman were even worse. They blew numerous icing and offsides calls, two that led to WBS goals. WBS was allowed to commit numerous too many men violations. Kudos to the Bruins from coming back from 3-0 down while facing nine skaters on the ice. Well, 8, Koharski wasn't awful. As always, WBS is classless and Donatelli is still a fat goof who should buy a new suit already but apparently they don't pay the gorilla handler at the Wilkes Barre zoo enough. Sestito is an embarrassment to hockey.

Southern New Englanders, the PBruins fan club is having a road game party at Wicked Good Bar and Grill at Twin River Casino for game three Thursday. They'll be showing the AHLLive feed on a big screen.

They are also having a party for games four and five if needed, but I'm not sure of the locations.

    Kuraly is a big boost.

Too bad about Linus, but the logjam at defense will not benefit him. I thought he was real good during his late season appearance in 2015, slipped some last year and was a non factor due to injury this one. His lack of offense really caused him to be overlooked. He made a brief return paired with Johansson and looked good but I'm guessing that guy's arrival spelled his end more than anything.

Hope they enjoy listening to some graduate of the JoePA School of Broadcasting scream how Old Man Kostsuckopus gets cats out of trees and Chris Porter mugs children for lunch money. I'm sure none of the front office will attend. If it didn't happen in the Dunk it didn't happen.

Interesting comments from Dean about guys up front on a short leash if they don't step up.

He's not eligible for the AHL playoffs.

Not surprised Cehlarik is getting sat. His defensive play in the series has been horrid.

JFK, like McAvoy, did not sign an ATO so won't be suiting up for Providence. He could return to his studies at B.U., not BC, as he couldn't meet the academic requirements. ;)

Cehlarik is injured which might explain his diminished impact.

I've read this sentiment here numerous times. Usually someone is advocating for the trade of some defenseman because we don't have room for them all. Unless my math skills are really off, I see us needing defensemen, not having a surplus.

With conventional thinking being that Vegas will take one of McQuaid, Killer or Chiller, (let's assume for this discussion it's McQuaid). Conventional thinking here also suggests that we won't re-sign Morrow. I'm not convinced of that, but let's roll with that for now.

    That leaves us with 14 spots to fill (7 in Boston & 7 in Providence) and just 10 defensemen under contract. In no particular order;

    Chara-Carlo
    Krug-McAvoy
    KillerChiller
    O'Gara-Gryz
    Zboril-Lauzon

Tha's just 10 of 14 defensemen. We NEED 4 more. There is no surplus.

We do have Johansson, but he has a European assignment clause, presumably because he doesn't want to play in Providence.

If we somehow protect McQuaid, Killer & Chiller and convince Vegas to take a forward instead - AND - if we re-sign Morrow, that still only gives us 12 of 14 needed defensemen. Even if Johansson sticks around and we keep everyone we have, we still need one more.

Unless I'm missing some players, I don't see the surplus or the logjam ...

It's a logjam at the NHL level. People aren't as worried about the AHL level. Beyond that they will probably want a couple of veterans at the AHL level. Say morrow is the 7th D or someone more reliable. Bring back Cross or someone similar and one other person for Providence and you have a full roster. Arnesson could see while there is a roster spot for him but chances of him seeing time in Boston were next to nil, he can at least make a bit more money playing professionally in Europe as opposed to playing bottom pair in Providence.

But there won't be a logjam until those prospects are mastering the AHL level. We don't have a surplus of that at all. Just a whole bunch of young guys who would benefit a lot from sepnding time in Providence. By the time they are ready (if they are ever ready) for full time NHL duty, we will have contracts expiring and there will be room for them. I don't see an embarrassment of riches on D just yet.

Also, I get the idea of bringing vets into Providence to groom the young guys and maintain a certain culture, but I'm a bit baffled as to why they bring in vets that really serve as "blockers" to development, eating up ice time that the Boston prospects should be getting. I don't understand bringing in players like Grant, Swarz, Simpson for example. I'd prefer O'Gara and Gryz were played ahead of Grant, Casto and Breen. I get Tommy Cross, because he's still a legitimate Boston prospect, but the other guys aren't.
