He has a couple of hot streaks here and there and everyone goes ape shit because he's a local boy and smiles and is energetic and has an inelegant skating style that makes him look like he works hard (like Brown).

I was impressed that Mitch fought for that puck and took a huge hit to hold the puck in. Nylander sure as hell wouldn't.
