Didn’t watch the third but it never ceases to amaze me the stupid **** some in the organization do. Benching Hughes is beyond dumb. Also not putting him on the first PP unit. The handling of young players is a huge concern.

Yeah we're not making the playoffs anyway, why the **** would you not give him ice time. Idiotic.

I was thinking about how fluid and full of chances these 3 on 3's are and it reminded me of how WD used to play them. Shut down play for the tie kind of hockey. We've come a long way.

Green gives young players chances, just not on the 2nd game. He's consistent with young players. Boeser didn't play for the first 5~ games? Green is not Willie, he didn't play Horvat on the 4th line for a whole season. Goldobin doesn't play because he's supposed to produce and he's been outproduced by Eriksson this season despite premium offensive minutes.

Blaming Green makes no sense, if they were rebuilding then yeah Demko should get more starts and Gaudette could get PP time, but they aren't. They were competing for a playoff spot (their words) until yesterday and Green coached as such.

Why hate on him finally coming into form?

I mean, feel free to bash the players no one wants here but it seems kinda ridiculous getting mad at one of the most important players actually playing well.

So many meaningless wins that he is the only reason for. Yes it is great for him to finally be playing at such a high level, but it really hurts the longterm plans of the team. He has single handedly cost them a chance at a Hughes/Kakko and instead now a Krebs/Broberg.

And as great as Markstrom is, he isn't even the goalie of the future. Nice guy and all but he has hurt the teams longterm success

It's because he lights the world on fire when we don't need wins. But when we start with a fresh slate next season and a chance at the playoffs and you need him to be good, you just know he'll be back to the Markstrom of old and letting in soft goals again. Just the way it is in Vancouver. Play well when it doesn't count.

He's been good all year and excellent since December.

Seriously, what’s the point in trying to win when you’ve been officially eliminated?

Benning should mandate the coaching staff to focus on development... why is Hughes being benched? Why is waiver fodder like Schaller and Spooner in the line up?

Green is just... ugh.

...better than Willie though...

Very disappointed in the coaching staff tonight. Completely unnecessary benching of Hughes. These are developmental games for him, give him ice time.

They certainly weren't playing for a playoff spot as of this game so it already made absolutely no sense.

People are hating Markstrom because he's playing well? Only in Vancouver

The guy has been playing the best hockey of his career since December. Its not like he finally just turned it on these last 10 games.

Whats wrong with a goalie who's had extremely high potential for his entire career finally start to play like he's supposed to? Its a feel good story yet some of "fans" now hate him because he's winning games? Unbelievable, but its the usual suspects so I shouldn't be surprised :help:

This tank chatter is so out of touch.

Ok - we know. I'm sure everyone in all hockey organizations know. You can look at the draft board and see the team slipping down with every win. Barring a lottery, we're only getting a worse draft spot with no playoffs.

That doesn't make it a priority above winning games and playing the right way. If a fan's priority for the team is the draft now that playoffs aren't possible, that's understandable. But it's important to remember that the organization's priority and player's priority will always be to win games - and for good reason. If you let up, it's an excuse and there's no buts about it. That slide towards accepting failure or even mediocrity lets people off the hook. It's much more important that it remains a square examination of, "Can you do what it takes?" and that the message remain consistent.

It's ok to have a different priority than the players and coaches and so on, but it's no good begrudging them the good ethic that their jobs entail.

One of the worst posts of all time. Congratulations!
