I have to wait until the morning to update the Carolina stats since they played tonight and lost to the Rangers in NY.

Go Broons!

I’ve been down to PNC to see a game - nice arena yet sort of in the middle of nowhere (but that might just describe all of Raleigh). It was shortly after the 2013 trade deadline - got to see Jagr with the Bruins. Had center ice tickets in the 1st balcony and went with my Dad, brother, and cousin. Flew Jet Blue for those free snacks. Wicked fun time, though I was a little put off by the tailgating by Carolina fans. It gave me the willies seeing NC State footballs and people tossing bean bags in the parking lot before the game. I’m more of a “4 large IPAs and a slice or two of pizza at Halftime Pizza before the game” type of fan.

On the couch

I LOLed. Of course, it reminded me of some other NHL commercials...

Looch, which was played pretty frequently during NESN games the season before he got traded....

This one with former Bruin Max Talbot always gets me...chicky-chiii.....

And, of course, the king of all NHL commercials....
Patrice Bergeron stars in classic Boston Bruins commercial
(Great plates...I want dem too!)

Time for the Bruins to buckle up and win. It'd be great to get a win just to cement home advantage for the first round and to keep Tampa on their toes. I hope Marchand was just playing possum on Sunday...smart to keep him out of the line of fire in Chicago, even if it meant a higher chance of losing. But we're already down enough people already....

TONIGHT’S GAME

The Bruins visit the Hurricanes tonight for the 3rd & final game between these teams this season & the Bruins’ lone appearance of the season at PNC Arena … The Bruins are 43-16-8 this season and are 18-9-4 on the road thus far … They are 14-3-4 against Metropolitan Division foes and 29-7-6 against the Eastern Conference.

They are concluding their 13th of 16 sets of 3-games-in-4-nights this season, as they hosted Chicago on 3/10 & played in Chicago on 3/11 … They have gone 6-5-2 in game 1s, 8-3-2 in game 2s and 9-2-1 in game 3s of those series this season.

The Bruins are playing game 2 tonight of a 4-game road trip (0-1-0) which will continue in Florida (3/15) & Tampa (3/17) before returning home to host Columbus on 3/19… In all, the Bruins will play 8 of 9 games on the road from 3/11-27 (0-1-0).

BOSTON vs CAROLINA, LIFETIME SERIES

The Bruins and Hurricanes are meeting for the 200th time in their histories (includes Carolina as Hartford Whalers) with the Bruins having a 106-70-16-7 record and 675-574 scoring advantage in those contests.

The Bruins are 47-38-9-4 in 98 road games played between the teams with a 329-314 scoring edge.

The Bruins have taken points out of their last 14 games vs. the Hurricanes at 9-0-5, including a 7-1 win on 1/6 & 4-3 OT win on 2/27 (both in Boston) in this season’s series so far, with their last regulation loss to Carolina a 4-2 road setback on Apr. 13, 2013 … They are 3-0-3 in their last 6 games in Carolina and they are 9-4-3 in their last 16 road games vs. the Hurricanes.

Fun Fact: The Bruins are 36-29-3-7 vs. Carolina since they relocated from Hartford at the start of the 1997-98 season.

Bring Back The Whale!!!! :yo:
Uh, yeah, no thanks. Living in Western Mass, having the Whale 30 miles away did make for an easy ride to a Bruins "home" game. However, if you couldn't make the game, they would invariably be blacked out on TV. And for the last couple of years of the Whale's existence, that bush-league organization figured out a way to black out Bruins home games that fell on the same day the Whalers were playing at home. Seemed to most often occur on Saturdays - when the B's would be playing in the afternoon and the Whalers playing at night. So not even a directly competing game. Like I said, bush league.

I'm not sure I can be any more indifferent to an NHL team then I am about the Hurricanes. Don't like them, don't hate them, simply forget they exist as a team...

I'm not sure I can be any more indifferent to an NHL team then I am about the Hurricanes. Don't like them, don't hate them, simply forget they exist as a team...
A direct result of a league with too many teams.

The funny thing (or not so much) is they owned us in the playoffs for a few years.

By a few you mean they met just once in the last 19 years, and twice in last 2 decades (1998 and 2009).

And by owned you mean the two teams are 1-1, and it took the Canes until Game 7 OT to beat the Bruins in 2009, not exactly owned.

Ah, for some reason I thought there were two years in a row they eliminated us. Owned was obviously the wrong word regardless.
