If we lose, I'm blaming @Muppet.

Holy god damn, now that's an effort I can appreciate. Nobody else will have the slightest idea what's going on, but Stepan scoring 56 off 169 is a great metaphor for how f***ing slow he is. Also f*** you for posting this the moment the real Blackcaps lose a final, you're either following it or it just happens to be a sick coincidence.

On that note, I would continue to just ignore cricket and pretend it doesn't exist, America. Leave it to the rest of us :golfnana:

I've been a cricket fan since about 2010. The cinema where I worked at the time showed 2011 World Cup matches (almost entirely India matches considering they won it; only non-India match I recall them showing was Australia vs. Pakistan) in the middle of the damn night and I volunteered to come "work" during them. Considering it was the ODI format, I basically got to watch most of them and go work the snack bar during the innings break and other intervals.

For the score card, this isn't the first cricket-themed GDT I've ever made. The first one I did was a T20 simulation and I made numbers up, but for this one I used figures from the best test match I've ever watched, which was New Zealand defeating Australia in Hobart in the 2011-12 northern winter/southern summer season. I reversed the team names specifically to troll you, since New Zealand won the match, yet according to the replication I posted, the "Calgary Blackcaps" are Australia.

2nd Test, New Zealand tour of Australia at Hobart, Dec 9-12 2011 | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo is the score card in question. I also made some parallels on purpose such as Stepan having a useful knock but an incredibly low strike rate. The rule of thumb I mainly followed was that forwards were batsmen, defensemen were bowlers, and the wicket keeper was the goalie.

I do imagine you're right in that no one other than you and me will have the slightest idea of what's going on (@starman gave a favorable review of my first cricket-themed GDT but I haven't seen him post in years), but like I said, in the GDT signup thread, this thread is almost entirely aimed at annoying you personally. :P

Ironically you've probably annoyed the rest of Forum 40 instead of me, because they're the ones who have no clue what's going on  Couple Brits around here though, they'll understand. Perlini's personal fan club I think.

As someone who has tried in vain for nearly 40 years to understand cricket, I at once applaud you, @Lady Macbeth, and curse you for reminding me how stupid I am.

7 years ago I visited India and tried to pick it up before I went. I retained enough to be able to explain most of it to my beer league teammates when an Aussie T20 match came on NBCSN after a game in the bar a few weeks ago. They did look at me as if I was from Mars though. ("huh? so if it rolls out it's 4, but if it flies out it's 6?")

Got the Flames on a back to back after a 3-7 loss against Vegas. Lets hope they doubled down last night and hit the clubs and casinos and are planning to fold tonight too.

Dream predicitions:
Smith is determined to show AZ fans why we should miss him and asks to start again.
Domi pots three in the 1st.
OEL gets the 4th in the first minute of the 2nd and Smith breaks a stick as he is pulled.
Team holds the Flames to one and Fischer adds the 5th goal late in the 3rd to seal the deal.

Reality:
Smith gets iced by Rinaldo, starting a line brawl.
Flames go up 1-0
Heroic efforts by Archibald and Cousins gets us the 2-1 win after Domi, Hamilton(s), Smith and Rinaldo are all ejected from the game. Actually this would be a dream scenerio too.

Lets make it 5 in a row boys!!!

Hamilton could use some hydrocortisone to keep from being scratched so much.

Picking up a guy on waivers to scratch him 19 games in a row is just mean. Really.

Apart from that, I have dark thoughts about this game. This streak cannot last.

I hope I am wrong.

Lines from dailyfaceoff.com (updated today)

Perlini-Stepan-Keller
Archibald-Dvorak-Fischer
Panik-Domi-Cousins
Martinook-Richardson-Rinaldo

OEL-Demers
Chychrun-Hjalmarsson
Connauton-Goligoski

Raanta
Kuemper

Edit: Don't hate Domi's line. With the way Cousins has played as of late, it isn't the worst possible lineup, still want them to acquire a 3C or call up Strome.

Ideal line-up is;

Perlini-Stepan-Keller
Domi-Dvorak-Fischer
Panik-3C/Strome-Cousins
Martinook-Richardson-Archibald
ex; Rinaldo

waived; Hamilton

Well, at least he still gets an NHL paycheck. I wouldn't mind 650k (or ~$3300 per day) to practice and watch games from the press box

For some reason, I don't think we'll be re-signing him :P

Jodi Jackson: "Todd Walsh will reflect on that night the Miracle on Ice team was honored here". As opposed to Todd Walsh just reflecting on the team itself of course cause Walsh gonna Walsh.

This is why I usually avoid pregames :biglaugh:
Being curious about what they were going to say about trade bites me.

I am shocked that Mike Smith's day to day injury, where he was supposed to miss 2 games, has now reached 6 games.
