I am talking about Germany. Czechs would definitely finish top 3 in Group A.

I know. IMO Czechs are Germany are about on par. With Lauko out Germany might be better. Czechs have the advantage in net but who knows. Germany are better than the Swiss and Slovaks too.

And even Germany would have had a real shot finishing 3rd in that group if they were playing there instead of Kazakhstan.
It wouldn't be a sure thing, but they could beat this year's editions of the Swiss and the Slovaks.

I just hope there won't be any key injuries by the time the relegation games start.

It's a long way away but if Russia lose to Canada and the USA they'll be playing this German team just to make the quarters. This pool is really damn tough.

Dude, Zegras has less than 5 minutes of icetime. That is simply unacceptable. I'm also from Canada and don't really care but these decisions are ridiculous.
For not caring...you sure are complaining about it a lot. But sure. Sandelin must be an idiot...he should listen to message board fan boys.

Group B really is the group of death. Even the "easy" opponent is really strong, on the level of Switzerland / Slovakia IMO.
Co-signed. The final score flattered Team USA a little. I hope the US takes this win to gain momentum, then peak right at the start of the medal round. <I hope I haven't jinxed the US by assuming they do in fact reach the medal round>

Wish Kaliyev could get a shot at line 1 or 2. I bet he scores more than Wahlstrom given the opportunity.

Haven't seen Kalyiev play before. Has the hands of a goal scorer but his skating is suspect on big ice. His skill
looks more suited to an NHL sheet. That said I would
feed him a huge dose of PP time and encourage him
to shoot. He passed everytime in the umbrella coming
off the point.

Everyone smashing Wahlstrom and Caufield here. What you expect from snipers without guys who create chances for them.
Give me a break. First they haven't done much of anything. Second they have been puckhogs. Third if they
are so great they should be driving lines by themselves.
Wahlstrom took a terrible penalty then made a terrible
turnover in his own end that Wolf bailed him out on.
Caulfield has been invisible in these two games. Freaking
Hall and Harris have found the back of the net ahead of him and Pinto has what 3 goals.

Quit excusemongering for them. They have done
jack.

Wahlstrom at least has 3 points in 2 games. That’s a little more than “jack”

He’s also been good along the boards and playing physical. He had one really good play where he kept the puck in the zone and it lead to a goal.

At least he should be used on the top power play, he's a specialist in that area of the game. Of course matching up with 3rd pairings is a good idea, but playing him 4 minutes after 2 periods is still dumb as hell to me.

TOI was proven to be off yesterday regarding Kaliyiev
so I doubt they are accurate

I agree, I don't feel he has necessarily earned more minutes but just like most of the rest of the team, hes not being utilized well at all. I feel like he would be more productive than Caufield for example with the same minutes, because hes big enough to handle getting knocked around, he has decent play making ability actually and obviously has a lethal shot. I realize Caufield is not being set up for success either by not being with better play makers but hes more one dimensional than Kaliyev IMO of course. Kaliyev has better vision then he gets credit for and can also play the boards and hit if/when needed.

Ah well.

For a guy that has played in the NHL he is
not been impressive. That turnover ranks
behind only Millers for most terrible plays
and his goal was a garbage time goal and he absolutely
was a puckhog against Canada.

I'm sure NHL coaches are taking note of Sandelin's brilliant strategy. I can see first line forwards being moved to 4th lines all over the league now.
A short tourney for juniors and the month to month grind of the NHL are the same thing now...who knew...
