TONIGHT’S GAME - The Bruins host the Blackhawks tonight in the 2nd of 2 games between these teams this season and the Blackhawks’s lone visit to TD Garden this season … The Bruins are 31-17-8 this season and are 20-7-3 on home ice … They are 6-2-2 vs. Central Division opponents and are 13-4-4 vs. Western Conference foes. - The Bruins conclude a 3-game home stand tonight & they will next face a 5-game road trip to ANA (2/15), LA (2/16), SJ (2/18), VGK (2/20) & STL (2/23). - They are concluding tonight their 12th of 17 sets of 3-games-in-4-nights this season … They are 5-6-1 in game 1s, 9-1-2 in game 2s and 6-3-2 in game 3s of those series this season.

MILESTONES APPROACHING - Bruce Cassidy is 1 win shy of his 100th win behind the Boston bench … Tonight is his 166th game as Boston’s head coach & he is looking to become the 2nd-fastest Boston coach to reach that milestone (Tom Johnson, 100th win in 138th game in 1971-72). - Zdeno Chara is 2 goals short of his 200th NHL goal … He will become just the 21st defenseman in NHL history to reach that milestone.

BOSTON vs CHICAGO, LIFETIME SERIES - The Bruins and Blackhawks are meeting for the 590th time in their histories with the Bruins having a 267-239-79-4 record and 1,853- 1,782 scoring advantage in those games. - The Bruins are 167-92-34-0 lifetime vs. the Blackhawks in Boston with a 1,052-827 scoring edge in those 293 contests. - The Bruins are 3-1-0 in their last 4 games vs. the Blackhawks, including a 4-2 win on 1/1 in this year’s Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium, & they are 12-5-3 in their last 20 games overall vs. Chicago … They are 6-3-0 in their last 9 vs. Chicago in Boston. - Fun Fact: The Bruins and Blackhawks have split their season series in each of the last four seasons

Two red-hot teams will face off when the Boston Bruins host the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
Boston (31-17-8) is riding a seven-game point streak and will look to extend its best stretch of the season. The Bruins are 4-0-3 during the streak, including a 2-1 overtime win against the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.
Brad Marchand scored the game-winning goal when his shot deflected off an opponent's skate and into the net.

"We got a lucky bounce, and we'll take it," Marchand told reporters after the game.

As for Chicago (23-24-9), none of the bounces seemed to go its way during a miserable first half of the season that included the firing of longtime coach Joel Quenneville. But fortunes have changed for the Blackhawks, who have won a season-high seven games in a row under new coach Jeremy Colliton.

The Blackhawks cruised to a 5-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday afternoon to climb closer to one of the eight playoff spots in the Western Conference -- a possibility that seemed highly unlikely just a few weeks ago.

"Let's keep this thing rolling," veteran goaltender Cam Ward said to the Chicago Tribune.

Are Ward and others keeping an eye on the Blackhawks' postseason chances with 26 games to go?

"I check the standings, yes," Ward said. "We know where we're at and what we need to do. With that being said, you control what you can control, and that's how you perform and how you prepare, and the guys are doing the right job."

Patrick Kane has led the charge on offense, as he has throughout his career. The 30-year-old has at least one point in 14 straight games, which is the longest active streak in the NHL. He has 81 points (33 goals, 48 assists) in 55 games.

David Pastrnak leads the Bruins with 66 points (31 goals, 35 assists) in 56 games. Marchand is right behind him with 65 points (21 goals, 44 assists) in 55 contests.

Tuukka Rask likely will get the call in net for Boston. He is 17-8-4 with a 2.36 goals-against average, to go along with a .922 save percentage in 30 games (29 starts).

For Chicago, rookie Collin Delia could earn the start one day after he agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2021-22 season. The deal averages $1 million per season and rewards the 24-year-old who has posted a 6-2-3 record with a 2.98 goals-against average and .923 save percentage in 12 games (11 starts).

The Blackhawks also could opt to stick with the veteran Ward, who is 11-8-4 with a 3.67 GAA and .895 save percentage. Both goaltenders have seen plenty of action with No. 1 starter Corey Crawford out with a concussion since Dec. 16. Crawford returned to practice Saturday.

This is the second and final meeting of the regular season between the clubs. Boston posted a 4-2 win over Chicago during the outdoor NHL Winter Classic, which took place Jan. 1 at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind.

Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron, Sean Kuraly and Marchand scored for the Bruins in that matchup. Brendan Perlini and Dominik Kahun each tallied a goal for the Blackhawks.

I'll be at the game. Family friend gave us tickets for the Cross Insurance Boardroom? Never been in that. I assume its very bougie? No idea what to expect. But excited to be there to cheer the boys on. Excited to see what changes have been done in terms of outside the Garden. I was there in Oct for a concert and it was madness. I hope its gotten better.

Hoping for a big win! Weather is supposed to be bad. Make my travel worth it!

I've got tickets to the game, but I'm not hopeful about making it into the city tonight.

Be nice if, once in a while, visiting teams could bring along their anthem performers, especially Chicago’s. Todd Angilly, though, has settled in nicely as Rene’s successor.

Call me an outlier, but I absolutely despise Chicago's anthem singer. As cheesy and theatrical as Rene ever thought of being, except he dresses it up as something impressive and majestic. It's really nothing but bombast and silly posturing.

And I hate it, hate it hate it!

Not going but I hope they play this game. I don’t want any makeup game hanging on the schedule. The schedule is packed as it stands now.

Boston is getting 3 - 6 inches. It's poorly timed, but I would think in no way should affect the game being played.

We ended up selling tonight, I had a board of directors meeting that I couldn't miss so getting into town in time would have been difficult. Of course the board meeting got cancelled.

Looks like it's taco Tuesday and B's from the couch instead.

a few weeks ago this one looked like the B`s would be playing a poor Hawks team, not so much now, while the Hawks still fighting to try and get a playoff spot, they are playing very well. Our boys have to be sharper tonight than they were vs the Avs, should be fun

why would Sweeney be addressing the media? Backes in vs a quick team.....perfect
Pastrnak out 2+ weeks with a thumb injury. Had to get a procedure, apparently he fell at a team function.

Time to see some young guys step up in a huge way
