TODAY’S GAME - The Bruins host the Avalanche today in the 2nd of 2 games between these teams this season and the Avalanche’s lone visit to TD Garden this season … The Bruins are 30-17-8 this season and are 19-7-3 on home ice … They are 5-2-2 vs. Central Division opponents and are 12-4-4 vs. Western Conference foes. - The Bruins play gm 2 of a 3-game home stand today & they will conclude hosting CHI on 2/12 … They will then face a 5-game road trip to ANA (2/15), LA (2/16), SJ (2/18), VGK (2/20) & STL (2/23). - They are playing game 2 today of their 12th of 17 sets of 3-games-in-4-nights this season … They are 5-6-1 in game 1s, 8-1-2 in game 2s and 6-3-2 in game 3s of those series this season. - They are concluding their 11th of 14 sets of back-to-back games this season … They are currently 6-4-1 in the 1st game of those sets and are 7-1-2 in the 2nd games so far. - The Bruins are playing today their 7th of 10 matinees this season (local start time 4:00 pm or earlier) … They have a 6-0-0 record in afternoon games so far.

MILESTONES APPROACHING

Zdeno Chara is 2 goals shy of his 200th NHL goal … He will become just the 21st defenseman in NHL history to reach that milestone.

INJURIES (Total man-games lost in 2018-19: 166)

Matt Grzelcyk – Lower body.

BOSTON vs COLORADO, LIFETIME SERIES - The Bruins and Avalanche are meeting for the 146th time in their histories (includes Colorado as Quebec) with the Bruins having a 72- 56-15-2 record and 549-475 scoring advantage in those games. - The Bruins are 31-29-9-1 lifetime vs. the Avalanche in Boston with a 248-214 scoring edge in those 70 contests. - The Bruins have lost their last 4 games vs. the Avalanche, including a 6-3 road loss on 11/14 in the 1st game of this season’s series, with their last win vs. Colorado a 2-0 road victory on 11/13/2016 … They are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. Colorado overall & are winless in their last 12 home games vs. the Avalanche at 0-10-1-1 (3-2 OT loss on 2/4/2003 & 3-3 tie on 10/11/1999) … Their last home win vs. Colorado was a 4-1 win on 3/30/1998.

Sad Fact: The Bruins are 10-20-1-2 vs. Colorado since they relocated from Quebec in 1995 & they are 2-11-1-1 in the 15 games in Boston in that span.

Hell baby
Nice to see soderberg having a nice year

I’m looking at Colin Wilson as a possible 3C add in this game

Here's how long ago their last home win against Colorado was:

Bruins last beat the Avs at TD Garden (then FleetCenter) on March 30th, 1998

The night before on March 29th, 1998, the FleetCenter hosted Wrestlemania XIV, at which Stone Cold Steve Austin won his first WWF Championship by beating Shawn Michaels.

Thanks Fenway!

That is ridiculous, this is the time to break that losing streak. Score first, extend the lead, keep the lead. Do it Bruins!!

Except he's not really a C. His last season when he even really dabbled at C was 2013-14 in Nashville. And his FO % over the last 5 years is just awful (around 40%). He barely even qualifies as 3rd line player (10th among Avs Forwards in ice-time).

Peter Forsberg was on the cover of NHL 98

Just had a look at the standings . The Avs look like they have come back down to earth and are barely a .500 hockey club but they are only 3 points out of a wildcard spot . It’s never easy for the Bruins ( look what happened yesterday) but this is a game they should win . Bruins win 4-2 . Heinen keeps it rolling with another goal but line 2 leads the way today , Krejci and Pasta will be on fire .

Thought there were some promising signs from the 3rd line once Wags moved up with Kuraly and JDB, showed some good energy and speed, hope they are kept together and given a run. Sadly Backes is just a dead weight out there.

I prefer Kuraly on LW but putting Kuraly and Wagner with Debrusk essentially puts their 9 best forwards on their top 3 lines, and their worst 3 forwards (Nordstrom, Acciari, Backes) on the 4th line.

This is probably the most balanced group they've iced all year. You got the two pairs (63/37 and 46/88) each with a complimentary players (22 and 43). You have the 3rd line with Debrusk as the offensive focal point and two straight line aggressive players (52 and 14). And your 4th line is just that, a 4th line. Limit their minutes accordingly (under 10 mins.) and don't expect anything offensively whatsoever. If down by a goal in the last 10-15 mins. staple them to the bench.
