Don't blame Kiv for that one, it's a good snapshot on an angle.
Not crazy how they just laid back in OT.

Onto the next one....

That was probably the easiest goal that Eichel has ever scored. Our three players just watched him take an afternoon skate all around them with no effort to knock him off the puck. Wow.
Agree about how we defended. While you can’t get overly aggressive in 3 on 3, this was excessively passive. I actually thought Eichel’s shot was excellent, but he faced no pressure.

They played passively on the play because they’re trying to prevent a high quality chance. Eichel is a great player and can make things happen 3on3, it’s better to back off of him and give him little rather than attack and potentially give up a lot. They’re expecting a save there, and they should have got one.

Kiv needs to save that every time if he wants to sniff the NHL again. He had a clear look at a guy from above the circle and he overplayed on the weak side for no reason.

Cant blame Kiv he is just a kid, but with Elvis or Korpi that could be easiest shoutout ever.

Of course it was the completely non threatening offense that resulted in only one goal for and Kivs was good enough to match that. But he was out of position on the game winner. D seemed overly passive but that’s how OT is played. They didn’t let Eichel walk right down through the slot or middle. All that said, Eichel is pretty ok and that’s a good shot.

Team of course needs all the points but getting one from a game played like this one is probably all you can expect.

For the love of Gordie Howe, look at the lineup we put out today. The forwards on our 3rd and 4th lines were Bemstrom, Gerbe, Robinson and Lilije. That is pathetic. Essentially we were playing with one offensive line, the one Bjork is on. At some point we have to ice players who are a credible threat to score.

I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep on the OT goal. It's 3-on-3. There's a ton of open space. It's hard to defend. That's the whole reason they use it in the NHL now.

Eichel, a highly skilled player, was actually being covered fairly well. He used another set of players to create just a little bit of separation, and executed a great shot. Tip your cap.

I'm also not of the mindset that one point is a horrible result simply because "it's Buffalo; you have to win these games." Bologna. It's our first game back after a long layoff, on the road, at 1PM, against a team that's already played two games. Any idiot could have seen this coming. Take the point and get the hell out of town.

Now, if they look like trash TOMORROW, I'll get a little worried.

Kiv has looked better in his first two starts than Elvis did and look where he is. At least he has shown Columbus they have a guy they can trust for a spot start in case of another injury. All goalies give up bad goals. Seeing where Kiv was at the end of last year, this guy has made a huge jump in quality of play. Cleveland made Thiessen play every game late last year because they couldn't trust him.

I’ve thought about it and I’m ok with the point. Our standings position won’t change today and we get a chance to make it right tomorrow. And giving points to Buffalo is pretty irrelevant. Plus the other teams around us are losing too. Just gotta get the juice back soon.

Refs swallowed their whistles nicely for that game.

Bemm needs to take a seat for a bit. It was one thing when we was still playing without the puck but now he just looks lost out.
