Expecting a loss to Toronto at this point. The team must be demoralized and the top line did not inspire confidence yesterday.

I respect Cassidy's willingness to tell it like it is but he ought to look in the mirror sometimes. Just saying.

If the Bruins had gotten a bit of puck luck like they did on several goals in the previous Wild game, the tenor of this thread would probably be how the Bruins fast, up tempo game broke the Caps' curse.
Can't fault the effort last night and was quite pleased with the play of the kid line.

I don't think he waited I'm pretty sure that it was the first time they were on the ice together. In Marchand's comments he just said he didn't think it was the right time and wanted to get a PP out of it. Saying he plays 20 min and Eller plays 12. Hopefully he keeps that mentality and doesn't take the stupid penalties he generally does.

He actually might be worse by the end of his career. His size allows him to do far more damage even if he doesn't quite mean it as much as Cooke. He's not going to go the rest of his career without another headshot.

Since the Kuraly OT game he's been on some other planet. Acciari ice time, line management, outside of the system being more open for speed he really is turning more into Claude as time goes on. Hopefully when Sweeney gets Krejci's winger it all changes.

I don't think Halak saw that puck on the 3rd goal at all. Backstrom used the screen perfectly and it was a well placed shot. He had a much better chance with the Ovechkin goal

I have mixed feelings about the Marchand/Eller thing:

On one hand I loathe the very idea of a Boston Bruin channeling Henrik Sedin like that. On the other I love that Eller once again made a first class ass of himself & suffered consequences for it.

Fairly certain Marchand was still at the tail end of a shift when Eller challeneged him. I get the TOI discrepency between the players, but that still a wuss move.

pause it at 34 seconds. Not even close to being a screen. Miller is off to the side.

Slightly better goaltending, a little more from the first line, we win that game or at least get a point out of it.

I respect your opinion and think you may be right with a lot of it but my guess on Cassidy is this is that it had little to do with Rask record against caps and just the right game in a stretch to give Rask a break. I really don't lose sleep over this cap thing . If we lost like game 1 every time I would but play enough games like last night and just cut down on the grade A chances we give them and things will be fine ; wins will come

I hate that Marchand did that. I think he kind of owed Eller a fight there, he did get the jump on him in the first one and Eller is a non fighter. I'm not a fan of the Bruins pulling the Montreal approach.

We may have lost to the Caps again, but lots of positives to take away from that game, sure Holtby was good, but also very lucky I mean DeBrusk missed the open net and other great chances missed as well. Brandon Carlo for me stood out as exceptional last night, if he continues to play like that he is a sure fire top 4 guy for many years to come. I think the big thing is the Bruins figured out a way to beat these guys and even though it did not translate to the scoreboard last night, I think this is the blueprint going forward, because the Bruins dominated that game for possession time and quality chances.

One goal was weak but Bruins were guilty of some terrible mistakes in their own end,and really thought Halak made some huge saves ,I know they have been winning but man they need to be better in their own end.Bruins had 40 + shots last night but really don’t recall Holtby being hung out to dry the way Halak was ,that one play on the Power Play in the third where 3 Bruins went into the corner after the Caps player, and he threw it in front of the net to the whide open Caps player was pathetic.

One issue for me that seems to be glaring is 5 on 5 play. Scoring on the PP is all well and good, but the 2nd and 3rd line have got to start generating more even strength goals IMO.

    Pasta 25 Goals - 12 on the PP- 13 5 on 5
    Marchand 16 Goals- 7 on the PP- 9 5 on 5
    Bergeron 14 Goals - 5 on the PP - 9 5 on 5
    Debrusk 14 Goals - 5 on the PP - 9 5 on 5
    Donato 6 Goals - 3 on the PP - 3 5 on 5
    Krejci 8 Goals - 2 on the PP - 6 5 on 5

All of the STH near me thought Brad was smart to not bite and he made Eller go to the box so that was fun.

Top line had a tough evening and don’t say this to often but Bergeron was particularly not very good.
Thought maybe Cassidy would have tried Krejci in between Marchy and Pasta
But his big move was swapping Backes and Donato
