Man do we need a 2nd line winger or what? I just puked in my mouth seeing Kennedy there.

I'll be optimistic and say 5-2 Wings, and the Coyotes kill a penalty.

My cynical prediction for the game is similar to Shepard's, Smith stands on his head to keep it from getting ridiculous but still gives up 4-5 goals and the main boards ignorantly accuse him of being average and overpaid.

This might get ugly fast.

RWs smarting after a Beantown beating. Alfredsson still waiting to make an impact. Coyotes in disarray.

Has all the makings of a classic JLA spanking.

Good thing we may have Biz in for some meaningless late game antics though:shakehead

I think Biz, Dmo and maybe Klesla will be in, Runblad and Schlemko out, maybe Kennedy or Klink too..

My predictions are just as worthless as anyone elses, but for all the railing I did on one Shane Doan (on his B-Day nonetheless) yesterday: I think we will see a Coyote team (lead by Doan) that is significantly more prepared for a NHL hockey game, whatever the outcome. In no small part due to what I believe is the genius of coach Tippett in sending the kids down and turning it on the vets. While I'm not in the room, I have little doubt that there is most lilely no other capt'n as welcoming, or accomodating, that possesses a more true, heartfelt sense of wanting to see players within his teams systems succeed than one Shane Doan - he's going to take this to heart.

I never predict a win/loss - it's plain ol' bad mojo.

I know we're only 3 games in, but at this point I'm just looking for better effort.

Things will take care of themselves if the boys play hard. We just haven't shown up the last 2 games.

Next two games - against the Wings and Flyers will be a tough challenge.

Flyers are unhappy with their start and just canned their coach.

I expect the Yotes to lose this one 3-1 and hope that Doan/Ribeiro don't chip in with some meaningless goal late in the game.

Tomorrow it's the Flyers and we stare down a potential 1-4 start. At that point it's GMDM in the spotlight. Do we address our problems or do we shuffle our deck. One thing is for certain, these players-only meetings are not working.

Since the preseason, we've been blown out 4 times:
Anaheim 6-2
Vancouver 6-1
San Jose 4-1 (should have been far worse)
Long Island 6-1

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

We'll win and everyone will go back to talking about how great everything is. Then next loss everyone will go back to talking about how we should trade and fire everyone.

Normally I don't care about the preseason, but all those blowout losses have been on the road. I fear we match up really badly.

To be fair, Kennedy has very respectable AHL numbers. He knows how to put the puck in the net. Can he do it with the big boys though is the question.

I think his numbers are even better than Brett Macleans that you guys all had a huge hard-on for.

..

Anyways, not feeling good about this game. Go Yotes.

Like WJF pointed out, if we lose this one (and especially the next) we have really dug ourselves a huge hole at the beginning of the year.

We at least need to win this one and keep our % at .500...
If we lose we are 1-3... then 1-4 before we know it...
Blah. Let's just win tonight.

Heck, right now I'd settle for a competitive match-up where we're not down by 2 or 3 after the first period.

We just need to not make those ridiculous mistakes early that just snowball the game away from us. If we come out of the first period tied 0-0 I'll be ecstatic. No more freebie's for the other team.

We all talk about starting slow and "getting used to the system" and all that... I wonder why it seems to have to happen every year though. Most of these guys have been here for a while and know what to do, why do they just forget how to play hockey over the summer? It's all just frustrating. Hoping to be .500 after tonight.

Go Yotes Go

Let's try and not come out of the gate half asleep for the first 2 minutes. These early goals have been killing us lately.
