my point is he shouldn't be fighting people a few weight classes ahead of him.

That's not why he fights, is has nothing to do with height and weight, he's not that big and usually his oppoent is larger.

It's all about sticking up for your teammate, who in this case, was slewfooted by Doan.

And he got Doan off the ice for the rest of the game.

Mike Richards will never skate away when someone wrongs a teammate and it's one of the reasons he's liked and respected by everybody he's ever played with . It's what a leader does...and when you're on the bench with aguy like that, who you know has your back, you'll go to war for him.
