If I hadn't watched this game, this thread would make me think we lost. I mean, yeah, we played a little loose against calgary. And crushed them.

What's the deal?

Schneider has to save our ass against Calgary, I am hopeful for this team, but games like this don't help

I'm not worried about it. They'll find another 3C. It's just not going to be Roy.

http://www.capgeek.com/canucks/

How do you make room for him salary-wise? Booth, Ballard bring in 8.45M combined, but the cap is decreasing $5.7M so even if you amnestied them both we're only $3.25M below the cap. Move Luongo? That's $4M after signing a back-up, $3M if they make the better strategic decision and move Schneider for high picks instead of a comparable goalie for nothing due to contract concerns.

So, that's $6M to $7M with 9 positions to fill. If you give Roy $4M, you can't even pay minimum salary to fill out the roster.

Who else is trade-able? Daniel or Henrik? Not unless you are going full rebuild. Burrows Higgins? The ink is barely dry on their deals. Bieksa, Garrison, Hamhuis? Full NTC's. Edler's signed through until 2019.

I just don't see any way that Roy is in a Canucks uniform next year.

FORWARDS
Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m)
Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m)
Mason Raymond ($3.275m) / Derek Roy ($5.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)
Dale Weise ($0.677m) / Jordan Schroeder ($1.025m) / Nicklas Jensen ($0.894m)
Tom Sestito ($0.666m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m)
Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m)
6th Defensman ($1.000m) / Chris Tanev ($1.000m)
7th Defensman ($0.750m) /
GOALTENDERS
Cory Schneider ($4.000m)
Eddie Lack ($0.750m)

Roy Fits I mean you could change the pieces around, not have Jensen on the team but the money is there provided you Trade Lou, and trade or buyout booth and ballard

That's where bad habits creep into our game. This is not the time of year to be playing loosely and creating or revisiting bad habits.

Can't see Tanev taking one million. If you are super close to the cap with that, then we most likely will not be re-signing Raymond

I honestly thought this was an ok game. Pretty poor defensively but something to build off. At least there was some intensity. Way way WAY too many turn over though. Holy crap. Nice to see more happening off the rush. I love Hansen but he brings down Higgins and Roy offensively at this point IMO. I'd keep it for another game or two then try Kassian there. Like I said I hope the team can continue to build off of this and get on a role.
