That would be amazing if we can NJ back, and Benn or Schlmeko out....

After Reilly's blunder last game, hard to not see him going with a vet. But it is in Minnesota. Does he take into consideration Reilly might be super pumped to prove his old team wrong?

I don't think so. I think Julien wants to establish a certain stability and establish himself in the standings before he turns to developing projects. I.e. Juline NEVER wants to develop projects and prefers steady veterans, from whom he knows what he's going to get, even if it's limited.

That would be ideal but unfortunately I can't see Julien doing that. Although since the game is in Minnesota and the fact Benn has struggled too, he should be the one to sit. Reilly hasn't played well defensively (That turnover was brutal against Chicago) but him and Juulsen did play well together and Reilly is the type of player we need to focus on developing.

Benn makes way more mistakes than Reilly................not to mention the 4 min dbl minor for high sticking in the 3rd.

I am kinda tired of Clod being Clod but hey at least Weber is back!!

The limitations of Julien are starting to show. When he joined the team it made sense because we were older and trying to win now. Now that the focus is on development, his style doesnt mess well. My hope is that Ducharme is being groomed to take over because hes the type of head coach that fits the direction the team is going in.

Well deserved night off for Price.

And I'm fine with Reilly sitting. Benn and Reilly are both quite bad, but IMO Benn has been a little less bad. Both should be replaced but that's a different conversation.

Rielly healthy scratch against the team that waived him, ouccch!! I guess they didnt like that spinorama in front of his own net in the 3rd period!!

Wow I'm surprised about the Niemi move. Price is on a roll. Would think you would want to ride that wave.

I know what you mean. But Price's numbers in Minnesota aren't that good. And Niemi's against the same team are better.

Correction: Reilly wasn't waived. He was traded to Habs. It was Olofsson who was waived earlier this year before Habs traded for him.

It was time to use Niemi, good call.

I don't like the Reilly scratch in favor of Benn... we need to see the Reilly from the first 12 games and quick.

Juulsen in for Reilly.

Niemi gets the start.

It was predictable Reilly would be out. I'd like to see this kid get his confidence back, but Julien doesn't seem to be the type to try to develop a player and think of the future unless we're out of the playoff race. At least Reilly isn't headed for waivers so it's not the end of the world.

Kinda sucks for Reilly to sit vs his former team, but we don't know the backroom details,

Well we see the egregious, brain dead spin o rama in front of his own crease when there was no need whatsoever to take such a risky play and which led to a grade a scoring chance by the opposition.

That's the type of decision making that makes a conservative coach not want to trust you with ice time.

you know what pisses me off the most about what you say ? if Benn or Schlemko did the dumb Spinorama they wouldnt be held out of the next game... Why does Julien make the youngsters suffer from their own mistake but not the older guys ( which should have less window for mistakes...)

Protecting your veteran over the prospects is stupid and old school, and it's the reason why Reilly said he didn't like Minnesota ( I don't remember where I saw this but he said it in an interview)

Interested to see how Kulak progresses. Have only seen one game since he arrived. He looked nervously, aggressive his first game from what I can recall. I picked Domi for my DFL the other night and of course he came up with a goose egg. Meh.....he was spunky though but I have incredible jinxing powers. No Canadiens on tonight's roster.

Go Price.........errrr, Niemi.

Nice GDT.

I was actually going to address this in my post but it was already getting long. My most honest assessment is: all 3 are turnover prone, I can only trust that Julien feels Benn and Schlemko are less so right now. For me it's clear Reilly has much higher upside if he can only get the confidence he needs in order to play without the jitters and stop turning it over so much. But Benn and Schlemko sure turn it over a lot as well. I honestly lost track of which one of the 3 does it most. But for me, I play Reilly to try to get him to reach his potential. He's fast enough and good enough with the puck to put himself in situations where he doesn't need to turn it over. Benn and Schlemko aren't.
