I am incredibly upset that I have to miss this game to study for a midterm. Should be a good one

Who else is going tonight? I somehow fell into a club level seat with some work buddies. The only problem is they are all Hawks fans. I guess I'll have to take advantage of all that you can eat and drink part of the ticket and drunkenly scream my head off :sarcasm:

Edit: I just watched the Weaver hit again. I forgot how big of a crybaby Edzo is. God I hate that man.

As enjoyable as those first two wins were, I don't think the Blues are playing as well as the results suggest. Florida imploded and Nashville's young defense wasn't ready to play a real hockey game.

Tonight will be a real test. I haven't watched Chicago yet to see what level they're playing at. One would anticipate a bit of a post-Cup let-down. But last season they ran away with the conference and forced the Blues into a 4 seed regardless of how well the Blues did (mathematically they were 3rd seed in the West).

If the Blues truly want to establish themselves as a Cup contender, they're going to need to have a couple decisive wins against other top caliber teams, at least at home.

    A few thoughts:
    1) Halak has looked great. He made a save against Florida when the game was 1-0 that I don't think he could have made in the past 2 seasons. His off-season work and intensity level seem to really be paying dividends.

    2) I'm not impressed with the Blues' forecheck so far. Its not up to the standard we've come to expect, despite the nice outcomes to the two games. They also haven't played against a team with any real kind of defense to challenge the forwards.

    3) I expect this to be a playoff atmosphere game. You can bet that Backes and the rest of the team leadership is going to set a strong example. I think this will be a physical smash-mouth game. I hope the officiating is conducive to that. You never know how early season refs are going to call things.

I love these games. Great test early in the season. Hawks have what the Blues want. I think we can win this one, but we're going to have to play MUCH better in our own zone. Even against the Panthers we were scrambling in our own zone quite a bit. We have to clean that up and NO STUPID PENALTIES! Hooking someone to prevent a scoring chance is one thing, but we can't take another Too Many Men or Delay of Game call. Hawks will feast on that. I'm going to predict a 3-2 win in OT. Go Blues!

tonight's game is also on NBC Sports Network with a 7PM start not Fox Sports just passing on and a rebroadcast of last night's Rivals is shown at 05:30 as well.

Time to send a message to the Hawks tonight. :bb:

I'm calling Schwartzy with a sick move followed by a sweet pass to Frank to finish it off.

I'm really looking forward to this game but since The Cards are playing at the same time I'll probably DVR this game.

But I'll being looking for how they play against The Hawks, I'm hoping to see them relentlessly pursuing the puck, better puck possession, and physical when they have the opportunity.

Also, hoping to see Halak continue his focused play.

JR just tweeted that JBo is not on the ice this morning. That really messes up the pairings if he's out. Jax-Petro, Cole-Shatty, Leo-Polak? Leo and Cole switched? Cole with Petro again(I hope not)? Eh. As long as it's not a long term thing, it's not a big deal. That's still a solid defense.

EDIT: False alarm. JR just tweeted that JBo will play.

If JBo is out, that's what I'd go with. I don't trust Leopold or Cole with Petro. At least we know Jax is capable in the short term. Situations like this are exactly why it was wise to keep Cole around for this year.

I'd like to know more about what's going on with JBo. His Ironman streak may be at risk! (Frankly, getting that out of the way might be a good thing.)

I hadn't heard about any injuries, and I figured we would have by now. My totally uneducated guess is that he's got the flu or he's sick with something.

He's fine. I edited my post a few minutes after you replied to it. JR tweeted like a minute after I made my post that he is going to play

Oshie becomes an assistant captain and now other players like Bouwmeester are missing practice. Unbelievable. :sarcasm:

In seriousness though I am also very much looking forward to this. I'll follow the Cardinals online because I have to watch this game. It's going to be a great test for us. For some reason I have a feeling that maybe this truly is the year that the Blues step up and become the best in the West. For that to happen, like another poster said, we are going to have some good victories against teams like Chicago. Well, now would be a good start. They've had time to rest so I'm expecting them to play a solid game. 4-2 win.

    Also nice GDT.

Hopefully they keep those of us at Scottrade updated on the Cards. Maybe put it on the jumbotron between periods?

How awesome and classy would that be?:handclap:

Cards are well below the Blues in terms of my interest, but jeez what a night for an elimination game. Even so, Blues win out so I'll flip to the cards for updates every once in awhile.

Feeling anxious for the game to start!!!!!!

I'm expecting a letdown tonight, but it's early, so I don't care. Feels good to know this team will make the playoffs, and that's when the real games begin.

Jackman/Polak better figure it out, or Q will make sure we pay for their mistakes.

They have in the past so I would say they definitely will.

My concern is that the Scottrade will be light or be overrun with Hawks fans because most people will be going to the Cards game. That would suck. Plus it's on national TV and other markets probably aren't aware there's an elimination Cards game going on at the same time and just judge that we have a bad fan base, which we obviously don't.

I'm looking forward to this game tonight, should really test us. I really expect a chippy game, wouldn't be surprised if Bollig/Stewart/Reaves/Shaw/Backes cause havoc.

Crawford hasn't been playing well. I think the blues could take this one quite easily if they play the way they did in their first 2.

Eh...that was against Nashville and Florida. To be honest we have played pretty sloppy in our own zone. That needs to be fixed big time.

I'll be at the game tonight. Seven rows from from the glass where the Blues attack twice!
