All four shooters were deke shots and we got lucky with one. You'd figure maybe an actual sniper might help with Silf. Steel was a head scratcher to me, but Getz kinda sealed our fates. I thought Eakins was an analysis guy? The yotes two shootout goals were actual shots, not dekes.

Your right how many wins do we have in the past 15 games? 3 or 4? Thats not good
Well the team isn't particularly good, so that isn't surprising. Their path is pretty narrow, and they can't win games while losing special teams battles. They need to win those every night and the defense needs to be tight. This team can very easily play well and lose.

Im gonna agree on the special teams part more so.. I can think of at least 6 to 7 games this year where they lost because of poor special teams.

You have to think the selection of shooters is part of the "play the young 'uns" strategy. Just like how Bob refused to send Jones or Terry down even when we were demanding it. Bob and Dallas have a plan and we, the fans, apparently do not have a need to know.

Gm BM will bring in a more proven goal scorer, possibly that pp top 4 rhd qb specialist to get us over the hump. We truly will be very tough out in the playoffs when he does ( as long as we are healthy)

With Rakell and Silf at your disposal, Eakins decides not go with either. This is a microcosm of Eakins' flaw on specialty items. We suck at the PP (no one plants themselves often in front of the goalie) and the choices for the shootout is just as baffling.

Arizona PP: 1 - 2
Anaheim PP: 0 - 3

I give up on the PP unit improving and it's because of Eakins. We're 10.8% efficiency on the PP (with 7 goals... last in the league). Last year, we were 17.0% efficient on the PP. Frustrated. I'd rather be lucky than good at this junction b/c being good doesn't give you enough points.

When’s the last time Rakell or Silfverberg actually scored in the shootout? I don’t know why he picked Steel, but the other three choices were all reasonable.

I figured the ducks got their point and wanted the two kids to get a crack....putting getzbald in didnt make much sense on both the point of grooming a kid or trying to get a good shootout shooter

Terry had a goal, a post shot, is a known shootout performer (Olympics), and was a case or riding the hot hand. Getzlaf has the best shot on the team. Steel, I dunno. I would have had him going about 10th. Kase was also reasonable. Silfverberg hasn’t been worthwhile in the shootout since 2017. Rakell is also meh. It’s not like we have good choices.

:dunno:

Poor coaching decisions in general- but most believe as long as they get a point.Manson unable to play which is pretty much the excuse for every game the Ducks play aka " the Manson excuse" then the season is going well.

So I guess I am confused. Letting the kids play and who cares if its a loss? So send them down to the A- honesty a few need to go and let them get groomed there. Not sure how he decided on his shootout lineup but I guess I will get on the bandwagon of a point is a point!

It was nice to see the puck not skipping over or bouncing off Terry’s stick. Hopefully he can keep this mojo going. Best game of year IMO. Still needs to get stronger next season but these types of games show you the kind of skill that’s there.

Silf has been garbage in shootouts.

Against their goalie, the bottom is virtually taken away. Terry, Steel, and Kase all deked. Terry and Steel failed. Kase got lucky. Do you know the definition of insanity? Silf would shoot up high. I have no idea what Rakell would do, but seeing that no one told Getz to shoot up high would probably mean Rakell would deke too.

Did you see Arizona mix up how they attacked Gibby? The goals that were scored on Gibby weren't deke moves up close.

I was already questioning why Steel was up after Terry, as many others have stated. But after three dekes were almost all the participants failed, we deke once again. I'll take my chances with Silf and try to induce a different result b/c apparently we don't scout opposing netminders all that well... you know, like our PP.
