Emery is a good goalie. If the team plays like they did yesterday, it won't matter. Yesterdays game was a team effort.
Except he isn't, his lateral movement is **** and he has an .897 save percentage compared to Mason's .930..behind the same exact team.
Last night was a good game all-around, but it goes both ways. We played well, the Senators played horribly. Both Edmonton and Ottawa are horrible teams as well. Edmonton is actually behind us in the standings as the second to last worst team in the league. Ottawa is 4-4-2 in their last 10 (we are 5-4-1).
We're not playing the Senators again. We're playing Pittsburgh. Although Pittsburgh has been playing poorly lately they're a much, much better team then either Edmonton or Ottawa.
Even if we win, playing Emery was a bad lineup decision. It's playing with fire, just like scratching Schenn and Gustafsson for Meszaros and Gill was.
Emery had one poor game so far. His stats are out of proportion due to small sample size.
Is Mason a better goalie? Absolutely.
But it won't do him any good burning him out early this season. He has already carried a big load on his back so far with little support from the skaters. He deserves a night off from time to time.
yeah he is.
Let's all relax on this goalie thing. The offense is starting to look alive, and we have no idea what goes on in practice or the locker room and why a particular goalie is starting tonight. Like someone said earlier, if we can beat Pittsburgh with Bryzgalov, we can beat them with Emery.
David Poile in Pittsburgh to take in the game. People assuming he is watching for team USA, but we all know he is scouting the Flyers to trade Weber here.
