The jury will be out on Sophia for a while I am sure, but I am personally just happy we now have a rinkside reporter who does not feel the need to use a whole tray of circus facepaint prior to every game.

First Period Thoughts:
1.) Brett Ritchie LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL -- He was engaged that period, and was using his body. If he play like that consistently, then I'm all for it. I'm not holding my breath, as consistency seems to be a big issue for him, but that start doesn't get much better.
2.) Coyle and Kuhlman look excellent. Coyle is poised for a big year. You can just see it.
2.) Defense looks solid already. Very mobile back there, and involved. Clifton, Grzelcyk, McAvoy and even Carlo making it happen.
3.) Heinen looked good that period, and loved watching him rip his first goal of the new year. Another player I see poised for a big year. I hope to see him and Coyle tearing it up soon.
4.) Marchand and Pastrnak look horrible. Can these two stop trying to make every play a highlight reel type? Just simplify it FFS.
