I don't think Backstrom being fine is good enough though. With the depth that they have, he needs to be great for this team to get anywhere.

If it's really a system issue, he would be neutralized like the rest of the guys are. Other than Orlov making individual rushes occasionally, not exactly some great puck carriers back there.

Also reason #64 why Reirden as the next coach is a bad idea.

Not necessarily. If he's being pressured to start Grubauer by outside influences or coaches/players then he could've caved and gone with Gruby.

Maybe "coward" is harsh. Conservative certainly fits 80+% of the time.

Trotz is setting himself up for a boom or bust situation with the goalie tandem. Starting Gruby appears to be a bold move but the second guessing opportunities are endless unless he wins.
