Game 1 of the EP40 era.
EP40 pots 2 and Boeser pots 2. Canucks win 4-2
Godspeed, EP. Go get one for me!
Didn't Lazar get sent down?
A quick glance at Twitter says yes, though the Flames' press release says he made the opening-night roster. which is a little insulting
Ahhh, Dubé made their team. Their Kelowna Rocket made the NHL and ours didn't.
Rasmus Andersson - he of the Sven Baertschi trade - failed to make their opening-night lineup
That was 10 years ago, hey. Holy ****.
I want this team to bottom out but I gotta cheer for a win for 2 reasons.
1) game 1, always nice to see hockey after a long period without it
2) hey **** the flames
At least we have boeser and EP to cheer about this year.
Heading to the game, hope I watch a good one.
Yes, it ****s me up too
Rest in peace, Demitra.
Also.Jusso Valimaki, the impressive Finnish D-man drafted at #16 in the 2017 draft made their squad as well (to add to their embarrassment of riches on their blueline).
Flames roster looking hella good.
The home opener 10 years ago: Vancouver Canucks vs Calgary Flames, October 9, 2008.
Luc Bourdon's life is celebrated in a pregame ceremony. Alex Burrows scores twice and does the bow-and-arrow tribute for the first time. The Canucks win 6-0 against the Flames.

Nostalgia for better days will be the only thing that gets us through this season
Man I remember that game like it was yesterday. RIP Luc, bless you Burrows for all you gave us to cheer for over the decade, and WOW look at those Sedins go! Lighting Kipper up like a Christmas tree. Good times.
Nice little reminder of the sort of place we want to get to with this team, again. Hope Petterson pots one, and it would be really nice to see Brock showing some signs of life and getting one as well. Would love to have him back to 100%, if only to have another reason to watch the games. He's so fun when he's shooting out the lights.
My guess is that the final score will be 5 to 2, for the Flames.
I still contend that losing Bourdan cost us the Cup. All around tragedy.
Sadly, my taxi arrives at 4am, which is drop the puck time. (In Ljubljana, very nice place)
Is Virtanen playing? i thought he was out with back spasms.
Good luck boys.
Does our season series with Calgary end hilariously early again?
EDIT: No, it does not. Games in October, December, February and March. And it's 5 games this year, to last year's 4
Hoping Boeser and/or Pettersson pot a goal or 2. Would be nice to see right off the hop.
I think the Canucks win this one, 3-2. Might be decent to start the season, then fall back down to Earth.
Our long, torturous, 5-7 year march to the Stanley Cup begins...
Leaf Fans: I can't wait to get the season started!
Jets Fans: Let's get this going already!
Flames Fans: I'm excited to see how the revamped roster is going to do!
Oiler Fans: McDavid will win us the cup! <---Oiler fans are always delusional
Sens and Canuck fans: Do we have to?
5-2 Flames with an empty netter. Real Gud Poo get walked repeatedly.
Canuck goals from Boeser and Horvat both on the PP. Both set up by Petterson.
Flames get goals from Monahan (2), Lindholm, Dube and Valimaki.
You missed one
