that flubbed shot on the open net is just everything wrong with kassian....even bozak buried one of those tonight and we all know coho would have fired that home. that trade just continues to look more and more perplexing.
did you miss your namesake falling on a partial breakaway? and then screwing up the ensuing 2 on 1?

On a happier note, my mom won one of the "jersey off our backs". She got Dan Hamhuis' game worn jersey, so I'm pretty happy for her. She hardly ever gets to go to a game, and even though the game was awful, it made her so happy.

Pretty stoked she got Hamhuis. They did the whole roster that's up here, so there were people that got Jim Vandermeer and Cam Berker jerseys. That's like winning the lottery and then learning you didn't win money, but a lifetime supply of frozen peas.

I feel sorry for the person who went to that game found out beer was free, saw them lose, got picked for the "jersey off our backs" night, and then pulled Andrew Ebbett's name out of the envelope.

In that game you're going to pick that as a problem? Because no one else has ever missed an open net.
Personally I am trying to remain positive about kassian, but I just think Hodgson is going to be the better player.

Just goes to show what the team thinks of that signing:sarcasm:

Hodgson is a year older. He also had 3 points in his first 10 games last season despite getting 15 minutes a night. And he wasn't playing with Andrew Ebbett and Mason Raymond...

Lmao, Vandermeer and Barker were probably glad they weren't even playing tonight so they can't be whipping boys (although I still do kind of blame them for being so precious that one of them couldn't be waived over Schroeder being sent down). Good for your mom though. At least something good came from this night.

Imagine what the score would be if we played either.

How did Schroeder and Hodgson become the saviors? Both are small "skill" forwards who would've been invisible in this game tonight.

The whole time I was standing there like "please be a core member of the team".

That has to be awkward for the guys like Vandermeer, Barker, Ebbett, Volpatti, etc...They have to know the people getting those jerseys are disappointed, even though it's still cool.

Reading that PGT makes me want to gouge my eyes out... we must have some of the most bi-polar fans on this board.

Edit: Actually, scratch that. More like uni-polar. I swear these guys only show up when the Nucks lose.

In a game like that it's not a difference maker, but if he wants to make a positive impression on AV he's going to have to do more out there. He was relatively invisible and missed a glorious chance to score...if he wants to be seen as a top 6 player he's going to have to show more. I'm hoping for him and the potential is there, but I haven't been impressed with him thusfar (last season and this camp/1st game).

Why do we still talk about Hodgson, it makes more sense to complain about the return (and then you're giving up on a young prospect too easily, and forgetting the development of Kesler and the Sedins).

Hodgson was never going to be here this season, he wanted out. It would be really harmful for both he and our team and organization to keep him even if in hindsight we need a 2nd line centre.

this team has 3 top 6 forwards right now. they need to play the trap.

I saw this loss coming a mile away, we always somehow start playing a wild offensive game against them. When the season is in stride we will pull out a string of 1 goal wins on the efforts of our D and goaltending.

How does Selanne win two draws that lead to goals?

A 42 year-old winger who doesn't usually take draws, is better than our face off specialist?

If Malholtra can't win draws, he is essentially useless.

On a side note, best part of the night was the fellow who won the Raymond jersey after the game, loved his facial expression.

Points if they curse due to drunkness.

You'd think they would only do the higher profiled players but I suppose that would be "unfair."

Which is the most galling thing. They're missing 40-50 goals from their roster right now but they still want to play loosey goosey high risk defense.

Ouch. What kind of expression?

Went to the game tonight as well, some thoughts.

I'm sure the boxscore says otherwise but it seemed like we didn't win a face off all night.
The 2nd line was invisible. Ebbett has no business centering a top line in the nhl. Schroeder isn't the answer but a different option is needed.

The team and defense in particular acted like a fire drill every shift and seemed like the puck was a hand gernade. The only positive was the sedin line and that's a stretch. Dale weise had some moments as well.

I don't get it.

Essentially the entire team hasn't played for almost a year and had 5 days to practise.

What did people expect?

The ****show hockey will be here for awhile.

Hopefully the other team ends up being more of a ****show than the Canucks more often than not.

If not, I say **** it, and pull a one year tank job.

Load up with Jones or MacKinnon, trade Lu and go for broke next year.
