2021 Canadian prospect. Had a really impressive performance in a game against USA in the U17's in a 5-4 overtime win. Wasn't that good against Canada White in his first game but came back big time in his second game. What stood out to me was how well he was reading the game.

Was 7th overall pick by Sarnia Sting in the OHL Draft, and stopped 49/50 shots in his OHL debut against Barrie Colts. Now he has SV% .902 and GAA 4.02, but Sarnia has been bad defensively.

3-0-1-0 record is good. and .902 sv% pretty good as well

Sting other goalies:

Jordan Kooy, 3-2-0-0 record (yes, the Kooy, the former London Knights highly touted goalie)
Ethan Langevin: 4-7-0-0 record

- hasn't played a single game since last month (27th)

Canada’s really not doing him many favours this game and Gaudreau has been standing on his head. Couldn’t fault him on any of the four (?) that have got by him at this tournament. Safe bet for the second round?

Drafted in the first round, seventh overall, by the Sarnia Sting at the 2019 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Benjamin Gaudreau has long been a high-profile goalie prospect. He played 28 games for the Sting as a 16-year-old rookie in 2019-20. Gaudreau put up a 10-13-2 record with a 4.34 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage. However, those numbers don’t really do his play justice as he was playing behind a Sarnia Team that was weak defensively. Gaudreau also played for Team Canada Black at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge. He struggled in the tournament with a 5.95 goals-against average and .787 save percentage.

Gaudreau didn’t get much chance to play in 2020-21 as the OHL season never started due to COVID-19. Unlike many of the top skater prospects in the OHL, he could not find a European loan move. He was still able to make Team Canada for the IIHF Under-18 World Championships. Gaudreau won all five of his starts on his way to backstopping Canada to the gold medal. He led the tournament in both goals-against average (2.20) and save percentage (.919). Gaudreau was also named to the tournament all-star team and was named the best goalie in the tournament.

Montreal should have taken this guy, I like Kidney who they took but they needed a goaltending prospect IMO....not sure what they where thinking, but guess it like their 1st round pick (shows they have no brains for drafting at all)

May not have much in common other than being among a handful of players with their respective U20 national teams to not have been drafted, but how does Gaudreau compare to USA's Andrew Oke?

Now playing with Erie as a 20-year-old. Numbers seem marginally better.

Any chance he receives a minor pro contract or is he committed to a USport program for 2024-25?
