The officiating was horrendous. Sure the Canes 'dominated' us in shot charts but most of the time the D and Dubnyk were fine. The clean breakouts, or rather the lack there of was a big concern for the Wild but they hang in there. Maybe the reffs didn't cost us the game, but they sure tried their hardest. Sure, a lot of the calls were right ones but there were more than few really weird ones: Coyle's hook on Martinook where two players tied each other up in front of the net that happens a thousand times a game. Zucker's double minor where J. Staal pretty much dropped his stick AFTER he gave a nut shot to Zucker. Our Staal's phantom trip call at the end of the third period that resulted in Canes tying the game. Not to mention a few non calls for an example the one holding/roughing where the Canes player headlocked a Wild player and pulled him down to the ice just before Staal's penalty at the end of the third, or when Seeler was called for interference but J. Staal a few feet away, who ran over his guy in same manner gets the benefit of a doubt.
Sure, we'll never know whether Hurricanes would've tied the game anyway or not without the help from the reffs, but as a hockey fan and a Wild fan, I can't stand an end to a game like that. Did we deserve a win? Probably not. The Wild couldn't figure out a way to get past the neutral zone with possession. And when they did occasionally, they usually still ended up dumping the puck and losing possession. Dubnyk was stellar and once again really gave his team a chance to win but rest of the team failed to deliver.
