I think what some folks are maybe missing here is that we absolutely DID step on their throats. We smashed the **** out of them to the point that they could completely dominate for 30 minutes and not even get that close.

Tampa packed it in with a 2-goal lead and paid for it. We extended it to 3 and 4, and especially that 5th goal which was a “let’s all agree nobody gets hurt tonight” goal.

Yeah, I think--especially considering this is just the fourth game and the fourth straight win at that!-- we can cut them a bit of slack. they are still really gelling and gaining chemistry together. plus once you get to the 5-0 category it's a little dicey in non-playoff games to figure out how to play tha outt. if we see this happen more this sesaon with a lead, then i'll be more concerned. just my two cents.

I honestly had zero worries about them losing this game at 5-0, and I expected the Panthers to score to get it about where they did. I felt about like the players. I loved going up 5-0, but at that point, I just wanted it over and was watching, but wasn't nearly as engaged. It was fun watching Reimer kick ass at that point at least.

I think we are a very good team that has played mostly pretty well when it truly matters, and we still have much more to give.

ETA: This was also the end of 4 games in 6 nights. Not surprising they didn't keep going balls to the wall at that point.

Hey!

I have been posting relatively frequently -- although nowhere near my spam-like levels during the posteason lol! Been traveling quite a bit and invested in my Yankees though, often having to watch games after the fact.

Missed you guys over the offseason. As I posted elsewhere, I'm not hardcore enough to really be that active during the offseason (of any sport really lol!) so I pretty much ghosted until October. Good to see (read?) you :)

It frightens me in a good way just how good this team is and that they still haven't really come all that close to putting together a full 60 minute effort yet this season. The weaknesses of the team from last year (and there weren't a ton) are basically gone at this point. Between bringing up Necas, the Haula trade, and Dzingle signing we've basically eliminated our lack of scoring depth at the grand total cost of a guy that may or may not make it as a #4 center, a conditional draft pick, and cash. The lack of guys further down the lineup being able to step up is a large part of why Boston beat us in the conference final. Now we have a 3rd line that honestly could pass for a 2nd line. We have the best defense in the league, have since last year and it only got better. All we need is our tandem to be good enough to not cost us games, they are. None of this is a guarantee that we'll win a damn thing in the playoffs, but the team that's been assembled has the elements it needs to be elite, and most importantly it was built smartly with the ability to have sustained success with smart management and drafting.

Do not ask for whom the bell inside the Shed of Vengeance tolls, Panthers....it tolls for thee.
I’m rewarding myself five cancerous Dougie’s and as many Odell’s Oktoberfest’s as it takes for having the most prophetic pre game post of the night.

Carry on. If anyone needs me I’m peeing again.
