Ottawa likely protects Gus or Daccord, probably Gus if I were to guess today. Wouldn't be surprised at all if there's a trade to keep the goalies and take Chris Tierney

as a Kings fan, I would expect Seattle to snag out of these young Dmen over the the forwards available.

Pens will protect McCann and Blueger over Zucker and Tanev. Think it is a toss up between Matheson and Pettersson for who gets exposed on the defense.

I agree with this. I think it may be Pettersson over Matheson and he may not be a bad pickup for the Kraken over Zucker and Tanev.

Depends on who is available from other teams but Pettersson's will have just turned 26 before the expansion draft so while his contract isn't amazing (certainly isn't terrible either) I could see him being a nice pickup given he's still got some upside and could develop into a solid yet unspectacular 2nd pairing dman.

I'd be shocked if the Isles exposed Leddy over Mayfield. Other than his sweetheart contract, Mayfield's play has actually declined, while Leddy is one of Trotz favorites.

I'd love to see Tanev end up in Kraken silks.

He would be a good pickup for the Kraken. Good energy guy and team player. Bottom 6 player that I would like to see the Pens keep but if he ends up in Seattle I'd be ok with that.

It's entirely possible :)

And yet I wonder if CBJ or MTL could have an interest via Seattle for him. If Kunin is protected and Duchene is there, he still provides some offense, you need to score a bit to keep fans in the seats.
Columbus would have interest but Duchene would have to have retention on his contract, I’m not too sure Seattle would want to do that though.

RainyCityHockey, i was thinking buffalo eats some of Okposo's contract lets say 25% to half retention so instead of being 6m its either 3m-4m. We have leverage remember.

Ducks fan here, really doubt Fleury gets exposed. He was solid for the Ducks in the few games he played & showed some good chemistry with Drysdale down the stretch; not to mention Murray's comments after acquiring him.

I think Anaheim goes 8-1, protecting:

F
Rakell, Lundestrom, Terry, Silfverberg (not saying they should, but given his Alternate Captain status & what GM Murray thinks about him he seems like a lock)

D
Fowler, Lindholm, Fleury, Manson

G
Gibson

Which would make Steel, Jones, Mahura & Shattenkirk the more interesting options. Hope Francis stays away from Larsson. He's BAD.

If Anaheim exposes Steel, Seattle Kraken will jump on that selection in a heartbeat

Tierney and a prospect say V Abramov if he isn't fed up with Ottawa and heads home to Russia

Things are getting interesting for washington. They are down 3 games to 1 to boston and lost game 4 to them 4-1. An early exit by the capitals could make things again interesting on who they protect and who they expose. They can't make changes with out opening major cap space.

@RainyCityHockey 's mock list is one of the more plausible ones I have seen. Here is mine I did a week or 2 ago but didn't get around to sharing, lot of similarities

Some of these may be headscratchers but the rationale with picks like Pilut and Skinner are that not all 30 picks are going to be able to be in an opening night lineup. Pilut is signed overseas, and Daccord and Skinner do not require waivers AFAIK. Bunting is a Group VI (I think that's the numeral) free agent who is under the radar and ARI doesn't have much else (besides Hill)

My heart says Oshie for the Caps but something tells me Samsonov may find a fresh start in the PNW.
