Hard to ignore Willie Mays. That's my pick. Up there in every stat imaginable, nobody better defensively ever. Can cover acres in the outfield with a canon arm. Hit for power in big and small parks in a raised mound/vaseline era. Fastest guy in the league by many accounts. Not to mention the social troubles he had to deal with. Did it without drugs.

"If you prefer “peak value” over “career value,” Mays averaged 9.9 WAR over 13 seasons (1954–1966), an extended run second only to Ruth in baseball history. Yes, it’s a bit silly to call a decade and a half of playing time a “peak,” when a typical peak is 5–7 years. But Mays never got the message that it was OK to have an off-year once in a while."

    I'll text @sarge88

Prospect is exited to select LF

    Barry Bonds

Holds the major league baseball career home run record with 762.
Seven-time National League Most Valuable Player (a record) and 14-time All-Star.
Has broken multiple records in Major League Baseball including winning 12 Silver Slugger awards, most career walks, and most intentional walks.

On base and RBI machine will likely bat 3rd for the A's.

The Louisville Sluggers proudly select the best pitcher ever Hall of Famer SP Walter "The Big Train" Johnson.

2 x MVP, 3 x Triple Crown, 5 x ERA title, and World Series Champ.

    WAR 165.2
    Wins 417
    ERA 2.17
    Games 802
    Starts 666
    Saves 34
    Innings Pitched 5914.1
    Strikeouts 3509
    WHIP 1.061

"Babe vs. Big Train: In 107 at bats, Babe hit .280 with 8 doubles, 2 triples and 7 home runs. He walked 19 times giving Babe an on base percentage of .389, and Ole Walter punched him out 25 times. Not bad, but let’s take a closer look. Babe hit .342 lifetime but Johnson held him 62 points under his lifetime mark. In his career, his home run to at bat ratio was 1 homer in every 11.76 at bats; against Johnson he hit a homer in every 15.29 at bats. Babe whiffed 1 in every 6.43 at bats but when he faced the Big Train, he went down swinging once every 4.28 at bats. Babe’s numbers against Johnson were pretty damn good however, in essence, the Big Train reduced the Sultan of Swat to a mere mortal.

However, there is a flip side. Throughout Johnson’s career, opponents hit .222 against him. He surrendered a total of, ready for this, 97 home runs. THAT’S IT!! That translates to a home run every 227.2 batters! The on base percentage of opposing batters throughout Johnson’s career was .281. So, if you consider that Babe took him deep once every 15.29 at bats and hit him at a .280 clip and got on base 39% of the time then one could conclude that Babe reduced the great Big Train Walter Johnson to a mere mortal as well."

WHEN THE GREATS FACED THE GREATS…..

    Prospect Hill selects

    C -Josh Gibson

Reknowned as the best power hitter in the Negro leagues, Gibson was compared to Ruth and Williams by many baseball historians.

    Denton Young P

Cy Young left a legacy as a pitcher that is unlikely to ever be matched.

The right-hander won 511 games during his tenure in baseball, almost 100 more than any other pitcher in history. He recorded 30 victories on five occasions and won more than 20 games 15 times.
Young’s best season came in 1901 when he led in strikeouts, wins and ERA. It was the first year of the American League and he set the bar high, winning its Triple Crown.

In 1903 he won two games in the first modern World Series, helping Boston to victory.

On May 5, 1904, Young pitched the first perfect game of the 20th century, a day he considered to be his greatest in baseball.

The pitcher totaled three no-hitters throughout his time in the sport. He still holds the records for most career innings pitched with 7,356, games started with 815 and complete games with 749. He is the fourth all-time with 76 career shutouts.

The Toledo Mud Hens proudly select Hall of Famer SP Tom Seaver.

"Hall of Famer Hank Aaron said Tom Seaver was “the toughest pitcher I’ve ever faced.” In an ESPN poll, Hall of Famer Bob Gibson said Tom Seaver was the best pitcher of their generation".
