One of the products of the late 90's shortstop boom. Sadly injuries cut his elite production down to very good and eventually cut his career short altogether.

The Lookouts are thrilled to select, 1B Mark McGwire

OPS+ 163 which is 13th all time

583 homeruns

his career vs. LHP
.266/.411/.608 1.018 OPS

*team plug* Lookouts will maximize the talents of Votto and McGwire in a platoon. And the other will provide a great bat off the bench. And Votto a D replacement if situation calls for late in game.

What a lefthanded bat coming off the bench and backing up the corner spots. His HoF case has gained a ton of steam this year with writers actually looking at numbers over names (in most cases).

The House of David selects C Biz Mackey

When studying ballplayers from the old black baseball leagues, it is difficult to separate the legends from the truth. There is not much legend surrounding Biz Mackey whose rise to fame preceded other greats such as Josh Gibson and Satchel Paige. Many of his contemporaries considered him a top three catcher that they had the opportunity to play with or against in segregated baseball. Above all, he was admired for his ability to handle pitchers, his strong arm behind the plate, and his consistency in the batter's box. He mentored many great ballplayers who went on to compete in integrated major league baseball, some of which even had Hall of Fame careers. He was chosen to five East-West All-Star Games, the Negro National League's equivalent to the MLB All-Star Game. He will be the ideal alternate to Johnny Bench for the House of David (being a switch hitting catcher doesn't hurt either).
