The Lookouts are happy to select, 2B Eddie Collins

Eddiecollins.jpg

Incredible hitter at the 2b position.

only Rogers Hornsby has a better lifetime WAR for 2b, than Collins, Rogers 127, and Eddie 124

OPS+ 141 POWER

741 stolen bases SPEED

“Eddie Collins is the best ballplayer I have seen during my career on the diamond.” – John McGraw

Collins is one of only four players in modern baseball history with more than 500 steals and a .400 on-base percentage (.424, which ranks 11th among modern players).

With our 4th pick in the ATD, the Rocket City Trash Pandas select CF Mickey Mantle

MantleMickey.jpg

The Mick is the greatest switch hitter to ever grace the diamond as well as just one of the flat out best hitters ever.

Name an honor and he has it, in spades; 20 time allstar, triple crown, batting title, gold glove, 4 home run crowns, and 3 MVPs to scratch the surface. He also was able to be apart of 7 World Series winners.

Another prestigious slash line- .298/.421/.557- that leads into a 172 OPS+.

That gives my lineup the 4th, 5th, and 7th best OPS+'s in history.

SS Alex Rodriguez

ARod is never going to win any popularity contests, but he is definitely one of the greatest hitting infielders of all time. With 696 career homer runs (41 per 162 games), and a bWar of 117.8, ARod was a freak that we will likely never see again.

The Tigers also select 3B Mike Schmidt.

Swing for the fences. That pretty much embodies the attitude of Mike Schmidt, and he was pretty darn good at it. With a slash line of .267/.380/.527, along with 548 Homer's and a bWar of 106.8, Schmidt is not only considered to be one of the greatest power hitters of all time, but is also almost unanimously agreed upon as the greatest third baseman to ever live.

With out 5th pick in the ATD, the Rocket City Trash Pandas select SP Clayton Kershaw

LeftDapperFrogmouth-max-1mb.gif

upload_2019-1-11_12-17-43.png

Easily the best left handed pitcher of the new century. In 10 straight seasons after his rookie year, he has never had an ERA above 2.80. He also is the active leader in hits per 9 (6.7) and home runs per 9 (0.6) to go along with being the active leader in ERA (2.39), WHIP (1.005), FIP (2.64), Shutouts (15), Winning% (.689), and ERA+ (159).

2.39 ERA (27th All-Time)
159 ERA+ (Best All-Time of Starters; 2nd of all pitchers, ever)
1.005 WHIP (4th All-Time)
2,275 Strikeouts (57th All-Time)
9.767 K/9 (8th All-Time)
4.422 K/BB (6th All-Time)

2,275 Strikeouts
vs
536 Walks

Kershaw also has the 4th most Cy Young voting shares behind Clemens, Johnson, Maddux and above Carlton, Seaver, Pedro.

With our 5th pick.....the Lookouts are happy to select, CF Mike Trout

1*a2PNED444q5TjCVZFeFZrA.jpeg

I normally have a 10 year span, or close to it with this draft, but there are exceptions. Or maybe, an EXCEPTION. So a player with 8 years, 7 full seasons?

YES, when you have been arguably the best baseball player in the world in each of those 7 seasons. Needless to say Trout is a phenom. The 2nd coming of Mickey Mantle for me.

He already ranks 7th All time in CF WAR. Which is remarkable in itself.

Going with WAR 7 for CF, you have......

1. Mays
2. Cobb
3. Mantle
4. Trout
5. Speaker

OPS+ 175

slash of .307/.416/.573

Wade is a baseball legend. That's all there is to say.

.328/.415/.443 with a 131 OPS+

He'll be able to set the table nicely for the power plant behind him.
