McDavid was 2nd in the NHL in goals this past year so its not like its a hot take.

Matthews and McDavid are both elite players but last year they benefited from playing against North division teams.

In last 20 years no other nationality has won the Rocket outside Canadian, Czech, Russian or American. Also Matthews is the only American winner, other nationalities have at least two different players.
