Kadri goes through these spurts often. It’s not injury. It’s not the end of his career. It’s sheer laziness.

Fact is, that laziness has never existed in big games. He’ll be fine. It’s hard to watch when he’s in those grooves no doubt, but it’s not permanent.

Gee I wonder if being stapled next to Makar all game has something to do with that.

Who cares? Makar has had his moments defensively this year too. They are a good pairing and play well together.

It matters because you can’t run that pairing in the playoffs. Dallas was able to target and overwhelm graves last year

JJ getting a shutout is nice and all, but I hope that doesn't fool Sakic into thinking he doesn't have to get another goalie

That was Ryan Graves' best game in a long time. Seems like the Nemeth trade lit a fire under him to prove that he shouldn't be dropped with a healthy lineup. Playing with Makar obviously helped a bit too.

This was the most boring Avs game I've seen in months. Anaheim certainly played their part, but it almost felt like the Avs were in 2nd gear most of the game, just managing the game rather than going full-tilt.

Also, I thought Middleton did OK in this game. He clearly lacks the kind of transition poise that we're used to seeing but he was OK for what is essentially the 10th D on our depth chart.
Middleton showing that he can play at the same level as Pateryn probably played a part in Pateryn being traded.
