SWINGSTEIN & SONS had too much to drink last night and agreed to tear up the rookie contract for Alexander Ovechkin and Dion Phaneuf and than realized that this cannot be done. Therefore the contract is null and void.

We would like to apologize to Dion about this bleep

looks like AO brought his vodka - must have been a lot of fun :)

Reggie tends to only adhere to rules when they are in his clients best interests. Thankfully his sons are much more on the ball.

Trade deadline acquisition Pavel Kubina signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets through the 2009-2010 season. Part of the reason he agreed to forego free agency was the Jackets' willingness to renegotiate his salary for the duration of this season. Kubina will earn $4 million for each of the next two seasons.

This signing makes it increasingly likely that the Jackets will buy out defenceman Tom Poti's contract, although recent changes with Washington in the NHL may enhance Poti's trade value before the season is out.

...And with this development, CBJ 3rd in 2009 goes to NYR as Roman Hamrlik will not be re-signing with New York before the UFA period.
