There are probably 12 significant UFAs that have to wait for Petro or Hall to sign. So this is going to be a long drawn out period... but one the bright side usually 90% of the signings are done within the first 12 hours of free agency and we're left with nothing for much longer.

So here is how we look in the game of goalie musical chairs.

Anaheim (Gibson/Stolarz) - Set
Arizona (Kuemper/Raanta) - Will move out one for the right offer.
Boston (Rask/Halak) - Set
Buffalo (Ullmark/Hutton) - I think their set but need to upgrade.
Calgary (Markstrom/Rittich) - Set
Carolina (Mrazek/Reimer) - Looking to upgrade.
Chicago (Delia/Subban) - I think their set but need to upgrade.
Colorado (Grubauer/Francouz) - I think their set but need to upgrade.
Columbus (Korpisalo/Merzlikins) - Like Arizona they would move a goalie for the right deal.
Dallas (Bishop/Khudobin) - Set
Detroit (Greiss/Bernier/) - Set
Edmonton (Koskinen/X) - Actively looking for a goalie.
Florida (Bobrovsky/Driedger) - Set
Los Angeles (Quick/Petersen)- Set
Minnesota (Talbot/Stalock) - Set
Montreal (Price/Allen) - Set
Nashville (Rinne/Saros)- Set
New Jersey (Crawford/Blackwood) - Set
New York (Varlamov/Sorokin) - Set
New York (Shesterkin/Georgiev) - Set
Ottawa (Murray/Nilsson) - Set
Philadelphia (Hart/Elliot) - Set
Pittsburgh (Jarry/DeSmith) - May take Fleury back at a reduced hit.
San Jose (Dubnyk/Jones) -Set
St. Louis (Binnington/Husso) - Set
Tampa Bay (Vasilevskiy/McElhinney) - Set
Toronto (Andersen/Campbell) - Set
Vancouver (Demko/Holtby) - Set
Vegas (Lehner/Fleury) - Will need to replace Fleury with a low cap hit. Maybe Smith or Schnieder.
Washington (Lundqvist/Samsonov) - Set
Winnipeg (Hellebuyck/Brossoit) - Set

Notable UFA goalies: Smith, Schneider, Anderson, Howard, Dell

I think Howard and Anderson retire.

Edmonton and Carolina are active teams in the goalie market right now.

I think MAF goes to Carolina. Dell isnt an upgrade on what Carolina already has. Maybe we look at Columbus or Arizona to trade a goaltender.

Thanks to the guy on the Carolina boards for this list.

I’d take Mrazek...

I don’t see the big difference between him and some of these goalies making 5+...

We would definitely be the best fit for Barrie if he wants to up his value for his next contract. He'd be an auto lock for our #1 PP whereas he's not going to get that in Colorado or Vancouver

Barrie going to Vancouver. oilers being used to drive up the price.

Oilers will get their d-man and goalie via trade.

too bad the Oilers did not get Cousins.

Not sure how we’re driving up the price when our offer is reportedly the lowest of the three dollar wise.

We're a team without money. I don't think our position has much leverage when it comes to financials. I wouldn't be surprised if guarantees for pairings/pp minutes were a bigger thing on his agenda. This is, of course, if he's really looking for a short contact to max out next year or the following.

Thanks again Steve. Punishing the Oilers for ending his career in the first round.
