I like Hornqvist being #72, putting him numerically between Sid and Geno. I think it's symbolic of insulating our superstars, surrounding them with gritty players.

I wonder if we could get Tatar from Detroit for Martin straight up. I made a Despres for Tatar proposal about a week ago, and Detroit fans were okay with the value (they need a RD though), and I feel like Martin is a lot more valuable than Despres.

Martin is. I'd probably try and get more than just Tatar for him. However if that's the best I could do, I'd still do it.

I have a feeling that German players will have a great year. ;)

I'm hoping they all do as well, and that they will like playing together and that will give us an edge in extending them, assuming they do play well, that is.

Shouldn't Sundqvist be under the signed prospects?
Most likely, yes. Although it seems he'll play in Skelleftea next season, I was waiting until after the prospect camp this month to get a better read. He's supposed to be stateside next week (Kapanen, too) and we should get more news then on what the plans are.

Looking at this team on paper, I'm digging it. There's a ton of unprovens, and not all of them will work out (both signings and young players), but I am excited for the start of this season. I think Hornqvist could see a bump in production, and if Downie and Comeau can return to form, we have some solid complementary pieces who can add some scoring. The team is young, and that should bode well. These are guys in the prime of their careers, or guys who are looking to make their mark. None of these 30+, over the hill, operating on guaranteed playing time.

The more I stew, the more I believe we should trade Martin. Just clean sweep and fill his spot with someone younger. I'm split on what we should do with Sutter, but I lean more towards trading him. I'd like to see how Dupuis fairs on the 3rd line. I think we have missed his energy and what he brings, but his price tag is still a little much to handle. Adams needs to be dumped for anything.

A Colorado fan on the main board just offered ROR and a 1st for Sutter and Maatta. I'd **** myself in happiness if JR would do that.

Any other piece would be a prospect or pick, so it really wouldn't make a difference in the long run. That's why I wasn't upset with the Neal return. Yeah, getting their 2nd would have been nice, but whoever we would have picked there wouldn't be ready for a while and may not even become a NHLer.

Now now, let's not totally trade **** them... we should throw in Dupuis for good measure, a sign of good will ya know? We know how much Pat Roy likes his French Canadians, it's the right thing to do.

Pretty much agreed. Keep Sutter if he wants to stick around longterm, and he's comfortable here as a 3C. If he's only willing to go short term on his next deal, look to deal him for help at wing.

We're probably stuck with Dupuis so it is what it is. Hopefully he'll come back strong.

One year deals to guys still in their primes who want to win and want paid is exactly what the doctor ordered for a supporting cast. They'll be motivated all season.

Martin, I think if we can get proper value for him, we should deal him. I'd swap him for a guy who can step into our top 6 forward group. Or assets that can be used to bring one in.

How bad was Mueller's and Booth's injuries over the years? Always thought both before being injured had huge upsides.

Booth is a shell of his former self because of the concussion, and Mueller is made of glass. I'd pick Booth of those 4, but I don't like any of them.

You think it would be better to go after was once high end prospects that need a change of scenery instead like Josh Bailey or Connelly as examples? I'd be happy with Seto as a camp invite if not signed.

I would personally go after Zucker (for Dumoulin), Connolly (for a 2nd) or Palmieri (for Despres).
