I was interested I trading Klein to make room for Hags. Now that that ship has sailed, I really don't see the point. Losing Klein's salary isn't going to open up enough room for a top 6 winger.

if we get Semin at 2Mil and trade Klein then that's 900K saved right there.

Fast won't be in the top 6. I think our roster for next season is pretty much set as much as I'd love to add Semin.

Kreider-Stepan-Miller
Nash-Brass-Zucc
Stalberg-Hayes-Etem
Glass-Moore-Fast
Bourque/Lindberg

McD-G
Staal-Boyle
Yandle-Klein
Diaz-McIlrath

Lundqvist
Raanta

But dude how much sicker would this forward group look

Kreider-Stepan-Semin
Nash-Brass-Zucc
Etem-Hayes-Miller
Stalberg-Moore-Fast

With Etem/Stalberg and maybe even Fast/Miller rotating between the top 9 and the 4th line depending on who's playing best. Either way that forward group is deep as hell. Bringing Semin in is honestly a no brainer, which is why I'm so pissed we won't do it.

I'm just giving an example, or more like giving you a yes or no scenario, if the Rangers COULD(which they won't) get Semin on a 1 year 2 way contract, would you want him?

If you're asking this to make me take back "under any circumstances", then ok. I take it back. I figured it was implied that I meant under any realistic circumstances.

And you even have Lindberg as the 13th forward in that line-up which makes it even more deep, holy crap the Rangers would be stacked on depth, they also have Bourque who can fill in on the 4th line if needed, and Gibbons, and so on and so forth. The defensive depth isn't bad as well, Skjei waiting in the wings, Diaz back, McI, the Goalie depth got better with Hellberg being acquired, we also have Skapski, the depth for the Rangers is looking very good.

Agree on how good the lineup would look but for all we know Semin either wants more than a 1 year deal or wants more money than we can offer him. We don't know if Rangers have or haven't spoken to him.

From the looks of things I don't think he has been discussing much with any teams.

That would be one stacked top-9 and some really good depth. Like 2-3 guys out of the lineup that can come in and contribute.

We would be freaking set honestly. That 4th line would even be nothing to mess with even with an injury to the team. Because we have guys like Fast and Stalberg who could easily step into top 9 roles and Lindberg filling in on the 4th line which would be perfect.

True. I'm just trying to lower my hopes so if something happens like he signs with Pittsburgh and plays on a line with Geno ****ing Malkin I won't get depressed lol.

Might sound crazy but I'd give him 3 years 9 million if we had to. Realistically though I think he can be had for one year 2.5 million because of the fact that he's getting that money from Carolina still. We will see.

Or, and this is what I'm hoping for, Lindberg impressed big time at camp, allowing us to move Hayes to RW for the time being.

That would be huge. If we good have Lindberg/Moore as our bottom 6 Cs you move Hayes onto Stepan's wing.

Kreider/Stepan / Hayes

Calgary was a joke 3-4 years ago and now they're a cup contender.. That's how u rebuild. It doesn't have to be a 5 year tank fest

Good team but I wouldn't call them a Cup contender just yet. Let's see them show this season wasn't a fluke.

2016 DRAFT PICKS
  • 2nd round NYR
  • 3rd round NYR
  • 4th round from Arizona
  • 5th round NYR
  • 6th round NYR
  • 7th round NYR

  • We lost our 1st round pick in the trade for Keith Yandle
  • We then also gained a 4th round pick from Arizona
  • We traded our 4th in 2015 to San Jose for James Sheppard

2017 DRAFT PICKS
  • 1st round NYR
  • 2nd round NYR
  • 3rd round NYR
  • 4th round NYR
  • 5th round NYR
  • 7th round NYR

  • We lost our 6th round pick in the trade for Magnus Hellberg

Comments: Do not have the number$ for Gibbons, Megna and Lindblad yet, will post when they are announced. Now at 37 contracts. Add our 9 RFAs and we are at 46. Probably 2-3 more signings coming up in UFA plus eventual trades and whatever comes of that. Need more fwds in Hartford still, maybe a defender too

Really hope we can sign one of Fehr or Brodziak.
And that we stay away from Semin. Even if he signs a two way contract for 700K, that guy is toxic.

My gut feeling is that, Klein will be dealt, the Rangers can wait until training camp to see what they have with McIlrath before dealing Klein. Diaz is the safety net.

Glass, OTOH, should be gone the moment his bonus check clears.

I really don't see the Rangers signing another bottom six player. If Miller goes into the top 6 as indicated by Brooks, you have Etem, Fast, Lindberg and Stalberg as the remaining bottom four wingers. You still have Glass, plus you have the likes of Bourque, Gibbons and Hrivik to challenge for the 13th forward spot.
