Old picture but this is Freddy Andersen’s career in a nutshell. He did it in Anaheim, the Leafs and now Carolina for years. The Leafs did the right choice moving on from him. He is a playoff chocker and the pressure gets to him when closing series or elimination games.

That's always been the knock on him, butI don't think he played poorly per say. Shouldn't be the fall guy, but he's also not a guy you're going to win a cup with unless you have a powerhouse team IMO.

Carolina really needed a 1-2 tandem like the Rangers and Bruins have if you're rolling out Andersen. If he's the one and only, forget it. The Russian kid is good but doesn't have much playoff experience

With all due respect to Freddy, he was at fault for 1 of the 4 goals. The other 3 were unsavable.

Canes fans just using Freddy as the fall guy.

He deserves some (but obviously not all of the) blame

The 2nd Ranger goal where the puck was shot into his feet from a bad angle and banged in because he wasn't sealed to the post is a killer and deflator for a team.

And the 1st one he lost his footing and let in a shot from distane that should have been stopped even if tipped

Thats Freddie for ya.

His regular season and playoff stats when looked at overall are actually decent.

Problem is come playoff time, he can never be counted on to carry a team being lights out and win games if the team has trouble scoring. In this series, Canes even score 3 goals many times but still lost 4-3. And today 5-3 (1 was an empty netter).

On Leafs, the team had trouble scoring anyway for him, but in those elimination games he'd still kill the team and momentum letting in a bad goal. So when that happens it makes it pretty much impossible for Leafs to squeak out a 2-1 win if he could just hold the fort. Check out game 5 Columbus game where he let in a goal basically along the goalie line.

That first goal was begging to happen even if he didnt slip because he was totally caught out of position being slow to track and be ready for the puck.

You'll see after the puck comes out from the mass of players, it goes to a Cane and he messes up that pass. But you'll see Freddie pretty much chill out thinking his teammate would control the puck. Turns out the pass goes to trocheck for a long wrist shot and he was so caught of position it might had made no difference anyway. Also, he probably slipped because he was out of position and tripped trying to get back in the net.

Leafs fans going after a goalie who hasn't been on their team for an entire era with an outdated stat graphic to wash the stink off of Toronto. Is OP even a Leafs fan? Maybe a Sens fan masquerading and trying to start shit for the Leafs?

The Leafs did the right thing moving on maybe, but when they blew the cap space on shitty ass dumpster dives like Mrazek, Murray, and Samsonov... well Freddy should've been kept

Hindsight 20/20 but as crazy as it seems Freddie is the best goalie out of all the revolving door signings since. Thats leafs for ya. Not a lot of focus on having a reliable starter.

And bad luck too. Their best goalies lately is Woll, but he's always injured.

Wait, if the rangers were up 3-0 then games 4 and 5 are also elimination games, and today wasn't a clinching game

For that matter, this is the second round of the playoffs. He won the elimination game in the first round, which is how we got here.

What is OP even trying to express? That he’s winless in games where his team lost?
