Is there such a thing as being tooooo aggressive offensively?

To me it appears that a lot of opposition goals are the direct result of overly aggressive attack including the D that leads to high grade quality chances going the other way.

Prior to the last three games the Leafs gave up: 2, 1, 4, 1, 3, 3, and 1 goal. Clearly whatever they are doing is working. Freddie didn't have a good game last night otherwise it would have been a win.

Matthews was certainly too aggressive in overtime which led to the 2-on-1 that ended it. No reason two forwards should be pinching at/behind the goal line in a 3-on-3 situation.

Take away even 1/3 of the mental lapses this team makes per game and they'd be letting in 2 goals per game instead of 5.

I wonder if you give hutchinson a game or two in the next 5-6.

Freddy just looks a bit tired.

Sloppy game all around but Marner at times looked slow.....
Fantastic observation. Complete lazy game considering he played a mere 23:39 on a back to back game even though he went to the dressing room for a spell for ear repairs

Maybe.. Andersen just had like 4 nights off though over Christmas. Maybe he has some "turkey legs" going too, trying to get back to game speed.

I expect him to be better Tuesday.

Yeah, I wouldn't be against starting him vs the Jets

There was one play where both D activated when the C was high in their zone (sorry I don’t remember which players it was), the C lost the puck and it was an odd man rush against. I couldn’t tell if it was a set play or a miscommunication between the D.

Yep knew you can't say anything about Marner ever having a bad game ever. Same posters too.

Talk about playmaking and giveways all you want. Saying he looked slow without context just shows who you are.

What's alarming is that Leafs have allowed the 2nd most goals in the division, only behind Detroit. They have scored the most, though. Why can't we ever have a good defensive team? lol.

Its also very easy to see the game from the sidelines and pick it apart.

We got puck luck in OT one night and not the next.

His overall game last night bordered on beastly at times. Taking the body, banging and crashing for the puck. Scored another pair and got us a point. Why focus on the negative?

There are many things that Keefe is an upgrade over Babcock, but one of the bigger things is reading a game.
He seems to know which players are going, and when they aren't, he isn't afraid to limit their ice time. Nylander wasn't going against Detroit, so he benched him. Yesterday Nylander was amazing and Keefe gave him 21 minutes of ice time.
I liked that Keefe indirectly took blame for not being able to use his 4th line.

Not upset at all this morning.

Any back-to-back where you come out with 3/4 points is a success.

We don't have a single back-to-back in all of January and we all know Freddy hasn't been on his A-game lately.

Our transition and overall puck possession has looked other-worldly lately and we're generating HDSC's at a rate higher than any other team in the league.

Winning streak over. 3/4 points in the bank. But time for a big team reset and get back to an honest defensive approach.

A halfway decent defensive effort should be able to generate a regulation win if you're going to score 4 goals.

Andersen needs to clean up his game, the defense needs to quickly regroup with Muzzin out, and the offense needs to find ways to score while not ignoring all the other stuff.

Well, things are getting better, since Keefe took over, we have had exactly 50 GA in 17 games for a 2.94 GAA, with Babcock we had 81 GA in 23 games for a 3.52 GAA. Another positive is that in goals for, we have had 69 with Keefe in 17 games for a 4.05 GFA but with Babcock, we had 73 GF in 23 games for a 3.17 GFA.

So with Keefe we are +19 in Goal diff and with Babcock, we were -8. These last 3 games were sort of weird but we managed to get 5 out of the 6 points. Keefe is not going to sit back and let that be their new type of game.

I like how Barrie has spent almost a decade being one of the better offensive defensemen in the league, but you just saw him make a bad play so that means he isn't very good.

May also want to dig up the Colorado Avalanche team record over the 2010s.

Yea, 2.94 is still not where you wanna be but it is getting better. That's good.

Can't be upset with an OT loss after just winning 6 straight. Not going to win every game till the end of the season. Onto the next one.
This is how I'm looking at it. When you win 6 in a row and 8 of 9, you know a loss is coming. Glad to get the point from it.

Too bad we were out of a playoff spot on American Thanksgiving so we're screwed. ;)

I can dig up last playoffs and see him leading their D in TOI by a fair margin. Barrie is a great player, hoping he gets hot for us at the right time.

Colorado has a combined 249-233-43-15 since 2012-13 when Barrie entered the league full time, 1484 GF and 1600 GA in that time. Barrie has also posted seasons of -16, -34, -15 in those years, so whatever his strengths and weaknesses he brings to are obvious.

Game tying goal vs Carolina. Breakaway/Buchnevich play last night.
