With a non-exclusive tag, players are given the ability to negotiate with other teams. The original team can match any offer, but if they don't and the player signs to another team - the original team is entitled to 2 first round picks as compensation from the new team the player signed with.

just to be more specific

Don't see any team giving up two first round picks after one good season of Cousins.

Thought they'd try and get a deal like Kaep's or Daltons done.

Miami's going a different route with their tag;

Seems like a lose-lose situation here. Also can't remember the last time i seen a transition tag used over a franchise one. Why not just use the non-exclusive and see if somebody is stupid enough to cough up the compensation?

Edit: Apparently Miami did the exact same thing with Clay last year. lol.

Isn't the transition less $$$$? They are right at the cap as is.

I expect Jacksonville to be in on Vernon. They could use a guy to put alongside Marks and Fowler and lord knows they have plenty of money to put the screws to the Dolphins. I'm fairly sure the Jags run a mix of 4-3 and 3-4 too so it's not a bad fit.
