As for my sim, I’m about 4 years in. Svechnikov is over a ppg in his career for me and scored over 100 points last year. Absolute beast.

As for steals, two drafts ago I got a franchise goalie in the second who is now a 77 at the age of 20. Should be an absolute beast in a few more years. I also found a defenseman from Russia literally in the last two days of scouting before the draft that was medium elite and expected to go in the 4th round. At 19 he is a 75 and killing it in Russia. He already has 5 star pick skills, but only 2 star skating so I’m curious to see what he becomes lol

How many points does Hughes have?

In my 2020-2021 season, my top-6 is:

Lafreniere - Petersson - Gallagher
Domi - Kotkaniemi - Suzuki

I’m also 25 games into my season, but my guys aren’t scoring at that rate. Lafreniere has 19G/24A and Petersson has 16G/29A.

Big drop off with Kotkaniemi #3 with 9G/12A.

As great as it was getting Lafreniere and Vancouver COMING to me offering 7 years of Petersson for 2 years of Drouin, my real catch was drafting a low elite defenceman in the 2020 draft in the 6th round named Tobias Soderstrom. He was labeled a gem, comparable to Chara. He is a 6’5, 212lb DFD. He made my team out of preseason and already changed from low elite to high elite and an 84 overall.
By the way here’s Hughes Points so far

I must say, drafting now seems too easy, and I'm not sure I like it.

Even without micromanaging the scouts, in the handful of drafts I've played through, I've had 4 top-10 picks (1st, 2nd, 3rd & 6th overall). These have yielded a Franchise Center, 2 elite potential centers who were instantly NHL ready, and an elite OFD (who was ~67 OVR outside of the draft, but I played him in the NHL anyway - now he's 85 OVR at 21 years old).

Outside of those top picks, I also have three 78-79 OVR elite defensemen in the system, another 79 OVR defensemen with elite potential playing in my top 6, a Franchise goalie, one gem of a prospect that I picked up in the 4th round and who's now 84 OVR at 21 years old, and about 5 additional elite level prospects. That doesn't include the number of top-6, top-4 and Starter potential forwards, defensemen and goalies respectively.

And in none of those cases did I make an off the board pick just to get the elite prospect (eg. using a 3rd round pick to get a player with elite potential that's projected to go into the 5th round). I think I'll need to make a rule for myself that when drafting, I'm not allowed to trade up more than 2-3 spots or I'm not allowed to trade down unless it's an offer from the CPU.

I’ve watched some GM mode videos on YouTube and it seem way too easy when you have decent information, especially with the bust and gem part.

I've noticed far too many Franchise LW and G but have only ever seen 1 Franchise C and 1 Franchise RW. Never seen a Franchise Dman.

I drafted a Russian player low elite in the 5th round i think. Started at like 55 and is now 67. I did not sign him and in his first year in russia he played 13 games only 2 assists. In the second year 45-6-7-13 and now this year he is over a point per game. I think it's nice to see the progression of those young players and after you see their development you know if you should sign them.

Did anyone have a glitch where after you won the championship you got a error
No I haven't, but one time after I won the cup all my players contracts kept incrementally going up. So for example, I had Thomas Chabot signed to an 8M contract, won the cup and the next year it was 10.5M, then 12, then 14.5M so I traded him.

I think I only the only in the thread to win the cup in the first season

Fellas. I'm going to ask you to test something out for me. Get 5 players total who are all 90+ overall. 3 Forwards, 2 dmen

Put your three forwards on all 4 forward lines and your two great dmen on every defensive pair. Sim from there and see what happens. Someone did it last game and it ended up resulting in a 60 win season or something nuts

Sims are pretty bad and inconsistent other than who wins...but point wise its kind of really bad and when you actually do play in the juniors guys don't have the same kind of point totals in a weaker league that they should have instead they have NHL like totals even though some players can get like 1.5 PPG in the junior leagues but when you play Be A Pro those players don't score near as much.

The only thing that's abnormal is finding way too many elite/franchise goalies...other than that there is a 1 or 3 extra unnecessary "gem" players which wouldn't really be a problem if the AI would just pick them early and have their own personal boards where you are pressured to draft these guys earlier instead of waiting til the 5th round knowing they won't be picked because the AI rarely goes off the board.

I'm pretty certain that you cannot. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
You can join a team 3 years into your gm even when firing is off however you need owner mode on still which for me makes the game unplayable and i hate that you need to use it to have access to other features.

They need to make it harder to draft, its wayyy to easy to come out of the draft with at least 2 elite potential guys and then like 10 years into gm mode “top 6” potential prospects don’t even matter and top 9 or lower pretty much means AHL player. Then you have every team end up filled with 82+ overall players.

My top lines are this:
LW SNP 96 - C PLY 92 - RW SNP 87
LW PWF 92 - C PLY 88 - RW TWF 88
LW SNP 84 - C PLY 85 - RW SNP 87

D LD 89 - RD 89
LD 85 - RD 85

Goalie HYB 92

That team won me 62 games and lost in game 7 of the cup finals. Goalie (franchise medium at 25) had a 1.84GAA and a .938SV% to win the Vez .
LW SNP (franchise medium at 27) had 61 goals and 105 points to win Rocket, Art Ross, Hart, Ted Lindsay and Lady Byng. So it's not exactly what you were looking for, but it's definitely a close comparison.

Hmm thanks for correcting that. I play with owner mode off as well.

If you are simming, I would add some vets (rated in the low-80s is fine) on the team. High poise makes a big difference with teams that rock the regular season but always choke in the playoffs.
