Hey Cor.

Since you been playing the NBA 2K-GM mode-for a while, am wondering is there a big differences between 17, 18 and 19?
Might want to start again but if there is not a huge diff, would rather get the cheapest option and see if I will enjoy it.

Read the article and i must say, I am excited just by reading it. It shows that the developers at 2K really care about their offline fans and are fans of the game. They are letting each player to have a wide arrange of options to adjust its own Franchise.

I would go 17 or 19. 2K19 is definitely the extra cost IMO.

2K18 has a year one storyline that you can’t turn off (you can in 19) and it forces a trade on you, and usually it’s not a good trade.

Question about the 20-23 year old UFAs whose stats are hidden by fog of war. Can we somehow scout them? I suppose I can just turn fog off, but looking for a “fair” way to see if I can sign some future stud.

I'm still playing 16, but has anyone found that everyone wants way too much money around the 14th year? I had to resign a 2nd liner with an 86 rating, who only got around 45 points, and has never hit 50, for almost 8 million! Meanwhile, his linemates, rated a 91 (with 80+ points) and an 88 (scored 42 goals) were making only 1 million more than that combined. I mean, did they wipe out contract steals after so far in to the game?

check how much they want for money

if they want max, sign them. go for the 20-21 year olds who ask for tge most in free agency

also check progression year to year. especially sith guys who played in the states. if they had one of those weird 0-3 point seasons then had like 50+
sign them usually

I discovered the same. I think this option is gone. It definitely was there in NHL 18.

You can still jump into a game. I don't think it shows you the button to do it though, but I'm almost certain that I've done it this year.

I'm just entering the 2022-23 season with the Boston Bruins. I'm really enjoying the draft and development so far. In the 2019 draft, I picked 3 players that have developed great. One elite right wing in the first round, one elite left wing in the third round (who was a gem), and a franchise goalie in the 4th, who is definitely going to be starting next year (if I can get him to sign a contract!!).

I've simmed almost all the way through. We won the Cup in 2020-21, but lost in the conference finals last year. I've mostly built through the draft, Hobbs & Hauhtonen were picked in 2019 (mentioned above) and Breslin was picked in the 1st round of 2021. This was the first year I made the big splash with Lindholm as a free agent, everyone else was already in the Bruins system (except for McQuaid, who I re-signed after the first off-season).

Two seasons into my franchise with an expansion Seattle team, and the owner is not happy (totally forgot to turn firing/owner mode off). I simmed through to the offseason and got canned, so I tried restarting from my last save, and luckily didn't get canned this time!

Still trying to figure out the scouting situation a bit. How do you optimize which scouts you employ? How often do you move scouts around, and should I be focusing on investing more into the scouting budget? (I usually just put all my funds in the arena ops - god I hate owner mode.)

Another question I had, this time about the draft. I wanted to trade for the 1st overall pick but trades were disabled before the draft took place. Then once it starts, the 3:00 clock gets going and you have to hurry to make an offer.

This seems pretty dumb as there's not enough time to put together an offer and negotiate with the CPU inside those 3 mins. Unless I'm missing something

So for my 1st Franchise in NHL19 I wanted a little bit of a challenge so I decided to start with Pittsburgh and on day 1 traded Letang, Kessel, Crosby and Malkin and started a rebuild

Letang was dealt to TOR for Dermott, Andreas Johnsson and 1st round pick
Kessel was dealt to VAN for Elias Pettersson
Crosby was dealt to OTT for Chabot
Malkin was traded to VEG for Tuch and Cody Glass

Year 1 I wanted to get a high pick but ended up doing decent, missed the playoffs by a couple of points and ended up drafting 13th

Made some more changes during the summer including signing Panarin and this is the line-up heading into year 2

Big drop off with Kotkaniemi #3 with 9G/12A.

As great as it was getting Lafreniere and Vancouver COMING to me offering 7 years of Petersson for 2 years of Drouin, my real catch was drafting a low elite defenceman in the 2020 draft in the 6th round named Tobias Soderstrom. He was labeled a gem, comparable to Chara. He is a 6’5, 212lb DFD. He made my team out of preseason and already changed from low elite to high elite and an 84 overall.

Oh, that makes sense then. I play against teams I swap draft picks for to get them losses and I’ve had games where I’ve made Byron score a hat trick, so I guess that gives perspective on Lafreniere’s numbers.

I play with owner mode on too. So yes invest in scouting as much as possible, and the let the cpu determine the rest of the budget

As for scouts my strategy is to be pretty much hands off until the trade deadline, except don’t let the scouts do stupid things like scout character attributes for two months. Ideally they should only scout potential and skill assesment. After the trade deadline I control what they do.. assign them to top players who haven’t been scouted yet and also try looking for players in deep rounds who are putting up good point totals. It tells you when they are done with their scouting assignment, so on that day go and see what they are scouting next. Generally I also send my NHL-AHL scouts to the junior leagues/Europe as well after the trade deadline, assuming they have a good grade somewhere. Also make sure scouts aren’t scouting people with an end date beyond the nhl draft.

And lastly make sure to sign new scouts on the first day of free agency, otherwise you will miss out on the good ones. Hope this wasn’t too long for you lol
