Neither of which have been able to have NHL careers thus far but that's not really what you're here for.

It’s to point out those guys made the AHL all star team despite being way worse than Seney.

lol who gives a shit. It's not hard to find good AHL players.

Boucher is turning 27 this fall. He played 1 NHL game in 2019 and 0 NHL games in 2020.

Next you're going to tell me Ilkka Pikkarainnen won the New Zealand D-League goal scoring title. Who f***ing cares.

Congrats to 2 former Devil prospects who were poached away ..........Reid Boucher (Vancouver) named 1st team AHL all star and 2nd team Jacob McDonald (Colorado).
Is that you DD?

Make sure you congratulate Reid Boucher on his new contract overseas which he’ll inevitably be signed to soon enough, as per a report last month.

A player that turns 27 before the start of next season, who is a supposed sniper and only scored 20 goals in 133 career NHL games and couldn’t make the Canucks either after being in their system for several years?

And then another 27 year old player that’s played 2 career NHL games?

Ilkka Pikkarainnen now that’s a name many of the youngsters on here probably don’t remember.

The thing is that if Seney doesn't make the team next year he will probably be in another uniform by October 2021. That's just how the business works - even if Seney is a top AHLer, there will probably be someone out there that will think more highly of him than the Devils do, and off he will go.

It's weird to see such a young player decline that quickly. He scored at a decent clip with some bad Bingo teams. Now he's not even at half a point per game in the AHL? Maybe he was hurt? Really a shame if he's in decline already.

Coaches mentioned he had trouble staying in top conditioning. Maybe in hitting a wall for progressing up the ranks, it’s gotten even harder to motivate staying in top shape.

Wasn't that thing here too that they needed him in better shape?

Let’s hope the organization doesn’t go that route, as it will be very costly. You saw how costly it was when we let Reid Boucher and Jake McDonald walk.

Currently 26th place. Qualified for the playoffs once in the past 8 seasons. 1 playoff game win since 2013. Letting productive prospects walk for low/zero return is costly for all organizations including the Devils. The Devils weren’t showing Kerfoot enough love when he was at Harvard and he walked for no return.

The fact that Seney hasn't earned a full time spot on a team that's been awful for most of his pro career doesn't really speak highly of him.

Seney doesn’t pick the team. Beyond his control.

Seney controls his performance on the ice with the opportunity that he’s given. The 5th most productive (NHL level) Forward Devil draft pick since 2012......37 forwards drafted. At the AHL level he led Bingo in goals and points this season. One of the major reasons Bingo was one of the best AHL teams since mid December.

Reid Boucher and Jacob MacDonald are not productive prospects - they're productive AHL lifers. Hanging on to players who can produce at the AHL level just because they can do that is also the sign of a stagnant organization. Would I rather the Devils have MacDonald than not? Possibly. Would I rather have Jacob MacDonald than Dakota Mermis? No - because Mermis got a call up to the NHL and performed reasonably well in his time here.

5th among forwards drafted in that time span isn't all that impressive when you look at the guys he had to outperform to get to that spot... Not that impressive

Mermis was a great pick up. Arizona didnt appreciate his talents and the Devils picked him up for Free. Dakota has NHL game for sure and when given the opportunity he was one of New Jersey’s best defensemen. I’d take him over Subban. As for MacDonald the AHL brass believe he’s better than Dakota, selecting him top 4 in the league. Selected over Dakota and another 180+ Defensemen. The Devils could’ve had both.
