Forsberg misses exhibition game tomorrow

Forsberg is on a plane today to montreal, Canada. He needs to go there because they will make a special pair of skates for him. Forsberg has problems with a hurting ankle in his right foot, and need a skate that will connect the skate and the foot perfectly.

Forsberg is expected to be back on sunday.

Crazy perhaps by our standards but for professional atheletes to fly accross the pond for special equipment that will help bolster their level of play, it is nothing. :lol

The feet are so important in skating that to not feel comfortable or having any little thing bugging you about the fit of a skate can be very detrimental to ones level of play.

It's not like he can go to the nearest sports store and get a retail skate, he goes to Canada because the skate factory is located there, they're gonna make a mold exactly like his foot is shaped and make a special custom skate that'll fit his foot perfectly, that's the reason why he has to go through all this hassle.

Way faster to go there in person and have it all done in a matter of hours. It is not like he can't afford the air-fare

Representatives from the swedish team said that it needs to be perfect at once. They could have made a plaster model of his foot, but there was a bigger chance of it not being exactly right. And then there would be no time to get a second pair done in time for the first game. So they basically decided not to take a chance.

Forsberg has been on ice for what, a month? And now, in the last week of camp before the WC he discovers that his skates doesn´t fit......... And it isn´t the first time, in the WC´s in 98 his skates ended up in Theran or was it Kabul when he booked his own fligth from Chicago to Zurich and he was forced to use Sundström´s skates instead... ojoj
